Huh?!

Gasser conversions have to go thru the ref and pass smog. Diesel swaps go to the DMV. They take a quick look at it and 2-6 weeks later you get a "diesel" title in the mail. No testing, nobody Even asks you to start the vehicle.

Ask me how I know........
Do the CA DMV Trolls even know what a diesel is or looks like? I would not be surprised if someone took a gasser in and said its a diesel that it would be passed.

so where is this swap in price-point compared to the SAS hundy swap? It was my understanding that Slee was trying to drive down the price/ease of the SAS 100 swap but it sounds like this may be alot cheaper. (?) Are ballpark figures pretty close on the two?

I also recall the main complaint about the SAS swap was that the 100 is (BIG) and heavy offroad. Wouldnt the main argument for the engine swap into the 80 be for people who are more geared to a slightly smaller/lighter trail vehicle vs the sas100.?

CA employs people who know what to look for, if there's no sticker for your cold air intake, its coming off. If theres an engine that doesnt belong or isnt allowed, its not passing unless you know someone that can help out...

My swap was inexpensive because I did everything myself and got a whole wrecked tundra for 1k and sold off alot of the parts.
If your paying for all of the parts, I tend to think a sas/100/120 swap would be the way to go. But would like to hear what slee says regarding cost to do it at thier facility.

My 80 weighs a sh1t load - read 6,550 lbs with driver and 3/4 tank of fuel.
I have 315/75/16's, bumpers, sliders, roof rack and will have to check the weight in a few weeks after I add the winch and dual battery setup.
The 2uz/trans weighs less than the 1FZ/A442 that came out.

Its a pig for sure, in fact I always brag to people about how well it does offroad... now I know it doesnt do well in the deep snow and I feel embarassed. While my my buddy with a jeep xj was floating on the snow with 10psi on bead locked mtr kevlars, I was at 15psi with my kevlars and every time I moved over for a snowmobile, my rig would sink to the doors. Something about the extra 2000lbs over his rig...

Typically this swap will be less than the SAS. The reason is with the SAS you end up having to address the rear axle / ratio / suspension lift etc. There are also a lot of variables in the SAS swap in terms of what components are used.

Engine swap starts at $15k and can go up depending on what customer wants. That is drive it, drive out, we supplying a donor (mileage to be determined based on availability), complete new exhaust and everything functioning as it should.

If I am really really good maybe santa will bring me one for Christmas next year!

what types of gear ratio options (in case or tranny) are there?? (not very familiar with that series gearing options) $15k would seem real reasonable for this swap if some options were available for the 80 as far as gearing with this swap.

also- how much lighter is that drivetrain than the 1fz-combo.??

As far as low range gears for the transfer case? The same as 80 or 100. Stock or ~3:1

I don't have the exact number, but quite a bit since every truck we did gained about .75" of lift in the front when swapped.

I'm about ready... Do you have everything on hand to do a 1994 (pre OBD2) Land Cruiser? How long does the "drive in, drive out" swap take? Still $15k? Factory cruise still functional too?

I'd call Slee if I were you. Probably the quickest way to get answers.

I'm currently in a military school with VERY limited phone/Internet use. I left Christo a voicemail. I could randomly check here for a reply much easier than getting some time on a telephone.

I drive mine ALOT !

I have a 1994 FJZ80 which I am building into an expedition rig. It has about 240k on the clock. (Check my build thread for vehicle details.) I have considered several repower options but Slee's iForce looks the best all-around option for me. I want something that looks factory, very reliable, and with more power that integrates with everything already in the cruiser. i.e. cruise control, gauges, warning lights, etc.

Can you please tell me about your experience with Slee and your thoughts about your conversion. Power? MPG? Sound? Factory-built appearance? Any issues? Customer service?

Thanks in advance!

you simply can't go wrong with Slee.
the work they do there is second to none.

PM Christo. You will get a response.

just remember that you will need to get the vehicle to them in Golden, and then leave it for a week or so.

A week? I thought it would be more like a month. That makes it so much better. I could go visit family in Denver.

I had Christo and Joe install a 4.7, ecu and transmission, mated to the transfer case off of my high mileage '97 80 series driveline during the summer of 2011. Christo had the truck for about 3 weeks total, because I told him to take his time. I have been extremely pleased with the results, factory air, cruise, and all gauges, etc, work properly, and stainless steel custom exhaust sounds awesome. Shifter and trans case lever are in stock position, and unless you are a mud member, you would never know that the truck did not come from the factory with the 2UZ. Motor runs cool and the truck is much faster and more powerful than stock, I don't slow down at all going up hill. I have 33's on it right now, but I have had Slee install 4.88's and I will put on 315's in the next three months. I apologize for the lack of photos, I have left the truck in Henderson NV as my "out-west" vehicle, so I don't have photos, but I will bring it back to northern VA in early December, and can get some photos then. Getting about 16.5 mpg on the freeway, about 15.8 mpg surface road/highway mix, per scangauge adjusted for tire circumference.

Thanks for the reply and all the information!
I live in Boulder City and drive through Henderson on a daily basis... When I'm there. I'm away on military orders right now but I'm due to return on December 12 or 13. I would love to experience your 80 in person before you take it back east.
