How are the frame, floors, & inner panels/ wheelwells or the interior? Really depends if you have the time to either part out or use as a trail rig. You might get your investment back depending on the shape of the disk brake front axle. Forget the resto or you'll be going down the same path you already traveled w/ the '72 40 you sold.

Buy it....it's a steal. Rhino put a engine, trans and split transfer case out of a ~84 60 into my 76 piggie before I purchased from him. Shoot him a PM about it, he'll help you out.

How well does that split case fit?

250$ is a steal

grab it...........IMO after having several pigs; you can't go wrong with 250$ for a decent piggy:cheers:

I put a 1985 Fj60 powertrain in one of my older pigs... no problems! Splitcase fit fine? I used the factory trans/transfer cradle/mount I belive I had to cut it down just a touch, then welded the outside ends to the frame- sorry, no pics as this was 10 or so years ago? But was very easily done in a weekend by myself. Do it!!!

radiator and grill

Are there any other fj55 owners in Salt Lake City that would have a radiator to sell, and a front grill, and maybe some drive lines. My wife and I are going to look at it tomorrow. i will get more pictures, and let you know how it goes. The problem is that I need to be able to get something up and running over the christmas break.
We looked at another fj55 today, but the roof had a lot of rust on the pillars between the doors. as well as about the same amount of rust on the lower half of the rig.

thanks for the help.

Good luck. That is like going to go "look" at puppies!!!

$250 - that is just about free. An almost free Pig. You are set!

Getting it running over Christmas break might be tough unless you have your drivetrain ready to go and a heated shop and will be on it for long days straight...

i'd buy it for $250 IF i was looking for a project OR it had parts i wanted. i would pass on it if i was expecting to be driving it after x-mas break.
is the other one running and driving? i'd maybe buy that one, then use the $250 one for the non rusted roof and any other parts you can salvage to use/sell.

I've got a rad and grill up in Helena, drivelines, also, but maybe the wrong flanges??

X2...on the getting it going after Christmas, unless you have all the items for the drivetrain ready to go, I don't see it happening. Plus you'll probably need to go thru all the brakes, how long has it been sitting??

I would say at least 2 1/2 years, Thats the first time I saw it.

It's been sitting for 2 years. I have the engine tranny and transfer case just waiting to go in. The only things that I don't have are the radiator, drivelines and front grill. I seem to underestimate the time it takes to complete my projects, but I thought I would be able to get the drive train in in a day, and work on getting it wired and back together a few days later. Baring any other unforeseen problems, which always come up.

What drivetrain? as the 55's use different mounts on the bellhousing than 40's ....unless your going split case then it doesn't matter as you'll need to fab/modify up the mount anyway

Bought it

I just talked to the guy and I am going up to Idaho this weekend t pick it up. My wife says that even if I can't get it running by the end of x-mas then that is fine.

thanks for all your help
I will post pictures

not a problem here, the 60 belhousing has the bolt holes blanked for the earlier location,,, its just a matter of drilling and tapping one hole to put the tranny mount on.

the 55 is roughly 60" wide at the bumper area.

congrats

I picked it up today, and it was a little rustier than I thought it would be. I am going to strip the interior out of it tomorrow and see if it is worth saving. I will get pictures tomorrow of it. Has any one used the floor of an FJ60 to repair an FJ55? Some of the floor braces are rusted through and I need to figure out how to repair them. Also who uses the spray foam that expands to fill holes in their vehicles!!? this thing is full of foam and That is why the rust is so bad in places.
