I'm getting my self an FJ40 soon. I really want an OEM snorkel, so are there part numbers for one or do i have to rig up a 70 series OEM snorkel to the 40? Nothing says sweet like having a snorkel that says Land Cruiser on a FJ40 Land Cruiser.:D

Why funny you should ask

It is butt ugly and even though I have never ordered one I am willing to be it has gone the way of the dodo.

its for Euro 80-84 B,3B, BJ4# or 84 HJ47 2H it says for general market and china cold spec. only shows up for the Euro market.

MOT would be able to run those #'rs for ya....he has been bless finding the hard to find stuff :)

japan4x4 what year rig did you find that parts diagram from? is that for JP market, EURO or GEN?

Really, really funny that you ask...

Dave,
I would really like to know where this diagram came from. Folks have been scratching their heads in another thread trying to get the part number straight.:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/70-series-tech/239032-snorkel-head-part-number.html

We have it boiled down to two different numbers both of which come up as "Precleaner assy, air" in the U.S. and Aussie versions of the EPC. \
1773066010 (40,60,70 series)
1773017020 (100 series)
These are very popular here in Central America and the local dealership just sold out of them and has them on back order. Leaving me "hatless" in the middle of a custom snorkel mod. The local dealer says that the part number in the diagram doesn't come up on his EPC because he uses the Japanese version. I tried using that option and can't get a different number, hence my interest in the blown up diagram.

Is that the cyclonic version I have seen on desert country FJ40's?

Or maybe this version?
From what I can tell the cyclonic filter is what separates the OEM from the knock offs around here, i.e. there are alot of snorkel heads that look like this but not ones that have the functioning bits inside.

Here these are popular because there are only two seasons, dry, very dusty when off road and wet lots of mud and deep water crossings. Hence the OEM snorkel heads really fit the niche nicely.

Previously I had been told that the OEM snorkel head aka precleaner assy, PN 17730 66010, was sold out anywhere here in Central America and that if I wanted one I'd have to wait 45 days until the next order from Japan arrived. I just installed my SS snorkel and it looks kind of dumb without the head so this weekend I took a chance and went to the dealership in person, with printout of the EPC page in hand. After some discussion regarding whether or no the above part number was in use in this region the result was the same none in stock for the Landcruiser. I went on to talk to the parts guy about other stuff I needed for the engine and he remembered that older Cruisers, Coaster busses and Dyna trucks share alot of parts. He switched databases and found the last one, the exact same part, listed in the Coaster bus system, in Guatemala. He ordered it for me and I just picked it up. It will go on tonight.:bounce::bounce::bounce:

cool interesting .
i did a mass search for EURO market on the EPC for that pre-cleaner # 17730 66010 this is what showed up ,
am i reading that right is this part supposoe to be available for a 2007 coaster also ??
funny the epc didn't pick it up as being a part number for the HJ47 see pic EDIT just noticed why it didn't show the hj47 different part number
great parts guy . great find

Jake,

We can sometimes get the parts for the other markets, such as the overhead subtank gauge, 80 series snorkel, etc...

Chances might be slim, but I think it's worth a shot! ;)

As promised my newly scored OEM head on my new SS snorkel. For those interested in the install of the snorkel and the fitment issues in mating it with the OEM head, there were some, see my build thread for details.
