Is my throw out bearing normal?

Dammit I can’t get the video to load, see photo instead (imagine everything spinning in there at idle w the TO bearing spinning with the clutch assm.).…is this normal for the TO bearing??

At idle the bearing rests pretty firmly against the pressure plate fingers and spins constantly. I tried to stop the bearing from spinning while running but it’s pretty solid on there.
Seems like a lot of unnecessary wear to run constantly like that.

I have the later style non-adjustable slave, all components are new…new trans, new slave/master, TO bearing, clutch fork, clutch/pressure plate, etc. Clutch master & hydraulics are bled properly and work well while driving. I played w the clutch pedal adjustment per the FSM with no difference.
(Fwiw, this is a 62 h55f convert and please pardon the orange metal, everything is new but it sat for awhile and the humidity here got to it :hillbilly:)

Not sure why the video won’t load. :meh:

It depends on the year, is what I recall, but it has been a while. Up to 84' the thowout bearing does not rest on the fingers of the PP and therefore does not spin. After 84' the throwout bearing rest on the PP and spins all the time. I think the biggest risk is it squealing, not failing. My 87' has a LS Swap and CruiserMatt has it set up to spin all the time.

Looks like there's plenty of room for the hub to move back so I'd look at the Slave cylinder to see why it's not fully releasing. Is the return spring there?

Thanks, this is a ‘90 fj62 but all the clutch components are the later model fj60 stuff, so post ‘84 I guess. I think the consensus is the later stuff rides the bearing on the PP.

I’ve had clutches before but never had to work on them, so just checking myself here, don’t want to smoke a bearing if it’s not right.

I noticed that space behind the hub too. Everything is well greased and slides very nicely. As mentioned this is the later non-adjustable slave cylinder, no return spring attachment.

Thanks, not a new debate for sure...mine's normal then. As mentioned, never worked on clutches before so when I looked up in there while running (in my vid that wouldn't upload) I was like "sh!t that's a lot of stuff flying around in there!" Lol.

So naturally I reached my hand up in there to see if I could stop the bearing. Women live longer for a reason.

Damn if id be sticking my hand up in there.
I did an ls swap about 12 years ago with a nv4500 using all aa stuff that used the fj60 throw out bearing i set it up touching/ spinning. I'd say @cruisermatt would have the most knowledge about this because he has done many fj62 manual swaps.

Totally normal and by deisgn with +85 parts.
