Hello all. I’ve been on here researching later 40 series diesels for a few months. Well I finally got a “brand new 1982” BJ42 and I’m thrilled to be in the game. It’s my first diesel and a 24V truck. I am completely ignorant regarding both systems. But through my lurking I’m catching on a little. Everything works for the most part. I plan to just bomb around town with it this summer and slowly go through it. Then use it as an adventure vehicle. Hard top and doors are in storage and I should get them in a few weeks.
I’ll be posting things in the appropriate sections as they come up. Like the flasher issue I discovered on day 1. Anyhoo here are the pics. I'd appreciate the expert's keen eye and advice.
Fiberglass, flip front body that maybe someone on here can identify. It’s also got the wrong bezel.
Custom tailgate. Note pretty new tail light lenses.

She's a Non-EDIC model
As you can see the frame is really solid. #1 for me and nice for a northern vehicle.
A small oil leak on right side of block. Is this common on the 3B?
Almost forgot the interior. As you can see it’s “Showroom”.
