Hello all. I’ve been on here researching later 40 series diesels for a few months. Well I finally got a “brand new 1982” BJ42 and I’m thrilled to be in the game. It’s my first diesel and a 24V truck. I am completely ignorant regarding both systems. But through my lurking I’m catching on a little. Everything works for the most part. I plan to just bomb around town with it this summer and slowly go through it. Then use it as an adventure vehicle. Hard top and doors are in storage and I should get them in a few weeks.

I’ll be posting things in the appropriate sections as they come up. Like the flasher issue I discovered on day 1. Anyhoo here are the pics. I'd appreciate the expert's keen eye and advice.

Fiberglass, flip front body that maybe someone on here can identify. It’s also got the wrong bezel.

Custom tailgate. Note pretty new tail light lenses.

As you can see the frame is really solid. #1 for me and nice for a northern vehicle.

A small oil leak on right side of block. Is this common on the 3B?

Almost forgot the interior. As you can see it’s “Showroom”.

Hmmm all my photos got cropped square. I linked from an album I created here and they are full size. I guess I'm gonna have to learn how to post pics :(

hello and welcome , im near quebec city , i have a 84 bj42 with a glass body
you have a malotte tub and front end , those one piece front end are pre-79 round bezel style and you can not use the square bezel because the distance between headlight is not the same
for the pics just upload file direct from your PC

Thank you for the welcome and the information. I bought her in Montreal south shore (Ville Lemoyne) but the truck is originally from Ontario. It passed full provincial inspection a few years ago.

Agreed, I was looking for steel but warmed up to the idea and eventually jumped. The flip front clip is also nice. Once I remove the non-functioning winch it will be like working on a rally car. :wrench::)
