Pull the cluster, disconnect the LED for the Height/OFF, and cover the little truck so you dont stare at it. That's what I did, pictures in the I<3LEDs thread.

Agaisin: I have the following items I will carry up to DC in two weeks for you as promised...just need to identify a place to meet on the way on 27th or on return on 28/29th.
- 4 globes with actuators
- all height sensors
- front shocks and even top mounts just in case
- torsion bars and rear springs

rear shocks destroyed with all lines so they are in waste bin. My buddy kept pump and reservoir but everything else is yours buddy.

Nice work on your rig!
Just pm'd you about details for the drop off. Thanks man!

New 4.88 with diff drop started....took quite a few tries to get the settings right...do one thing and there is another reaction somewhere else...must have had that thing apart 8 times trying different shims and such. Then air compressor motor went out.....so while he continued to set it up I went and picked up another air compressor (80 gallon tank) and helped remove the cheap one that finally gave out.

When I left we had front done and installed....diff drop installed...everything buttoned back up except right side as it appears when the Toyota shop in Durham did my CV Axle last month they damaged a seal.....so got to put a new seal in it as it was letting water in we noticed when it was taken apart. Just another thing I guess....

rear is out...completely disassembled, cleaned, etc. Monday can start with setting it up again and hopefully be done Monday night short of waiting on a new seal to button it all up again. What a job!!! I am so thankful to have someone that knows what the hell they are doing....cuz I sure dont. LOL

Got her finished and tested...if not for tires would be whisper quiet. Now to check speedo with new gears...and an easy break in for 500 miles.
Here is diff drop before put skids back and you can see the fancy oil drain ball valve.

So in the end I needed the following:

Front and Rear 4.88 gears
2ea Master Install Kits
2ea Solid Pinion Spacers to use instead of the crush spacers
1ea Slee Diff Drop kit

I ended up replacing PS seal as it was damaged I am guessing from CVaxle repair done by Toyota in Durham on my trip last month.

Only real hiccup....was the rear diff gasket was not good. The holes were out of alignment with the pumpkin...so ended up having to use RTB anyhow which I prefer actually. Now for the break-in before I can tow or do anything other than drive to work....but so far so good.

Next change.....

magnaflow muffler and rerouting of exhaust up into spare tire well for more clearance just got to decide on exit location.

or

heavy duty seat covers all around

what kind of seat cover are you eyeballing? I've often thought about adding seat covers, too. Considering you are opting for covers or exhaust, i have a sneaky suspicion you have something more than wal-mart cheapos in mind.

I want these that Equipt is selling...

Escape Gear | Equipt Expedition Outfitters

But last time I talked to them they found some differences between South African 100 series seat control locations and USA versions and were working on the changes. I am going to touch base with them again to see if they are any closer but seem to be the best mix of a custom fit with durability.

Those are awesome seat covers i used to have them on the troopy. they will make you left hand drive covers you just have to ask them. The factory is in deip river cape town, a few min from where I used to live.

Those don't look very comfortable. Has a lot of slack in the fittment too.

Unless you go neoprene covers you are not going to find any heavy duty canvas or duck cloth covers that will wear like iron and still look good. The neoprene are hot and wear just like the leather seats where your ass drags across the bolster.

These wont do that and compared to every other heavy duty cover I have ever seen they fit marvelous.

They were advertised for less than $400 last time I checked but like mentioned...I need to see if they got the fitment fixed for US based UZJ100 series....just not had any time.

Those seat covers do look very nice. I have canvas GT seat covers right now but they've been on for a few years and I need to replace them. I was pretty disappointed with the GT covers and they were pretty expensive from what I recall. The GT covers never quite fit as good as I thought they should for what they cost. I was considering ordering wet oakale seat covers this time but specifically ordered the GTs in canvas. My brother has some wet oakale covers and they are a nice quality well made product. The escape gear stuff looks top notch; like something that belongs in a cruiser...

I may be interestedin thoese. Originally I was going to go with Wet Okole. I would be interested in knowing if the covers you linked to have covers for our second row. Especially if they have the covers with the middle arm rest cutout.

Interested in hearing your thoughts after the gear change.

Sure would not have tackled that job myself!

I did not tackle it myself....Glenn has had his own shop of purely Lexus and Toyota repairs for a number of years and worked at dealership before then.... He did 90% of the work and I did the tire removal, heavy lifting of parts, clean up of parts, etc. Let me get them broke in and all and will give my thoughts.

I use a cheap set of pepboys seat covers when offroading or launching the boat at the beach just to keep the leather from getting nasty. The weathertech floormats protect the carpets. Those do look like good fitting covers though.

I have the weather tech on floors but with all the hunting, outdoor work and such I do the seats get filthy with my dirty, sweaty self during Summer and Fall. So these would be as much about protecting leather as well as giving me an easier alternative to cleaning when needed. I may get some cheapies from Cabela's or somewhere to hold me over while waiting on these if needed.
