Yeah it really is. There was another LX I was looking at that also had a bunch of recent maintenance done it had 146k iirc, he wanted 10k but he couldn't make up his mind if he wanted to sell it or not and finally decided to keep it. I'm happy with this one because the interior in this one is practically brand new, it's also in great shape, and I spent 2k less.

Hi everyone! Just registered on the CSC website. My name is Austin and I drive a 94' Land cruiser, bought it earlier this year bone stock and have since added quite a bit. My dad has been in the land cruiser world for quite some time owning two 60 series and a fully loaded 80 series years ago. Since getting the land cruiser I've gone to a couple of local trails including Butcher jones, Sycamore creek and Four peaks.
I attended overland expo in flagstaff and really got the itch to explore so my dad and I drove the Land cruiser to Utah and camped on the beach of Lake Powell. I have a build thread over on expo that some of you might have seen. Looking forward to attending some local gatherings! Thanks.

I've been on here for a while, but haven't really introduced myself. Got my 91 FJ80 with 153k a few months back and have been doing mostly PM stuff. Treating this as a bit of a restoration job for right now, as well as driving it as my DD. It came with Tacoma 16in rims and Goodyear SA 275/75s, and I will probably upgrade the front brakes with larger rotors when I break into the front axle later this month. I feel pretty damn lucky with this find as I actually kind of fell into owning this truck. My Nissan HB mini truck (which I owned for 11 years and lived to 265k) warped the head. A friend had found this, and when I took a look at it, I couldn't say no. Thanks to everyone for all the great info, it has already helped me immensely with my new project.

As I remember you thought you got your picture taken on the way over to delivery. Did the state end up get a letter from the state with your picture inside? I see it looks like the 62 is gone replaced by a 80. I need to down size a half cruisers before I serious start even thinking about a 80. Lucky for me the wife agrees the 62 is not one of them and will continue to enjoy his retirement at a cool 7,000'


As for me I'm sure most have seen me post in the CSC but I wasn't not a member. I changed that Sunday when I took my new toy a stock 99 4X4 4Runner on the Red Creek run. It was clear that the 4Runner was not up to the current state of the trail. That caused me to loose sleep on what do. Decided small lift, rear locker, second set of wheels/off road tires and call it good. I have enough FJ40s and parts to build up one of those. Yesterday it was confirmed I made the right decision. Pulling out of the garage yesterday I realized that something is wrong in the front end. I believe the right front CV joint blew up. Binds up and then releases. First time I had to double check I didn't run over anything. So I guess I'll be learning how to change a CV joint. Anyway that's how I joined.

My cruiser history is I use to have a 100 series but traded that in for a Sequoia. My newest cruiser is my 89 FJ62 that I bought July 93. Cruiser I've owned the longest is my 68 FJ40 I bought July 74. I have cruisers going back to 1960 FJ25. Few of those the rest are FJ40s except for a FJ45 pickup. The user name "Living in the Past" came from my wife. Been a Jethro Tull fan longer then I've owned cruisers and with so many old cruisers my wife thought it would be a fitting name when I joined mud.
 
Good wheeling with you John, I like the ideas for the 4runner. Sorry to hear about the CV!

Here is what was always number on my must have cruiser. Owned this for years. Things have changed over the years with all the imports available today but still number on my list.

As for the CV joint it will be a learning experience. Over the years have had seven independent suspension Toyotas and this is the first time I've ever had to work on one. It is a advantage that it's was mass produced with parts being cheap and easy to find. Unlike my 100 series that the driver's power door lock was over $200 with a mud discount. Try finding one of those in a junk yard. Already picked up some more running board parts. It has the same interior as mine and the few trim pieces mine was missing it has a few things I was happy with. It is nice having a vehicle I can find parts for out of a junk yard. Always enjoyed searching around a junk yard with a hand full of tools finding new treasures. 40 series dried up years ago.
