Hey whats up everybody, I'm new to the forum and saw the SoCal80s section which looks sick so I thought I'd introduce myself. I've taken my Cruiser to my friends farm and had some fun on the hills there but I've yet to make any overnight trips. I decided to post here because I am very interested in expeditions to Baja and the Desert. I am located in America's Finest City - San Diego!!

Here she is:
1992 FJ80 3FE with 70,000 Miles
3" OME Suspension "Heavy" Lift
16" FZJ80 Wheels
33ish" BFG All-Terrains
ARB front steel bumper no winch yet
Steel rear bumper with tire mounted swing arm
Ceramic front brake rotors
surf racks

I should be installing the stereo this weekend because I'm tired of no sound and not having my lower dash and the subsequent gaping hole (the stereo hole now houses my kleenex box)

I'm a college student and am looking forward to fun surf trips to Baja with my friends. I'm an Eagle Scout and grew up backpacking through the local desert and mountains but admittedly I do not have much experience on the 4x4 trails. Any recommendations on books/websites/maps I should look at to get some good info?

Well, I think youve come to the right place. I know for sure 2 of the 80s members definitely are beach bums and surfs - Boydmick and rckcrwler (gon2surf). brentbba and rfjtoy are pretty much involved in Scouting. And the rest (too many to name) are a wealth of info and experience.

Nice truck btw.

Welcome! :flipoff2:

Welcome. NICE rig with super low miles. That 3FE is no where near broken in. Look forward to seeing u in the desert, on the mountain, in BAJA, or at the next dinner.

Well I thought everything was going well....until now. I have never met anyone involved in Scouts worth a DAMN:eek:

Welcome nice rig :) Like the color, using the same for my two tone job.

BTW did I tell you the story about the 1st scout asleep at the campsite

Welcome from another Eagle scout. That alone puts you in good company! Truck mileage is WOW! As Smity said, it's not even broken in yet! You've got a kaymar bumper from down under sitting on the rear my friend. Good expedition style bumper.

Official mud welcome! :flipoff2:

welcome!
next time in Ventura, give a shout.
Lotsa good waves and I'll point you to the good taco's.

Welcome!:flipoff2:

Your truck is built almost exactly like mine...though I wish I had your miles. Damn, it's fifteen years old, break it in already! I surf too, though not as much as I'd like to. Used to be, "Can't work, too much surf" and now it's "Can't surf, too much work".

I'm ramblin' again. See ya on the trails, or in the lineup.

I LUV the screen name.... I was going to create a shirt that said that with two hands with the thumbs pointing back at the person wearing it.....
|||>THAT GUY<|||

Haha thats a good idea for a shirt. I think it could work. My good friend's neighbor created the shirt "From Myspace to MyPlace" (with the simple pictures of a stick figure on the computer and then when he is bending a girl over). This guy now rolls around in a Hemi 300C on bags with Lambo doors and 22"?? rims etc so I would imagine he got some money from it.

I'm surpised by so many Eagle Scouts on the forum, but I guess Cruiser owners are a different breed anyhow. Thanks for the welcomes all around. I saw a possible Big Bear trip planned for May 20th weekend and I'm definitely keeping that weekend free.

One question though, for the monthly meetings are they usually up in Orange, LA, and Ventura counties? Most of you guys seem to be north of San Diego, do the SD guys carpool it up or do the meetings rotate areas? I would very much like to attend a meeting if I can but a trip to Ventura solo is going to hurt the wallet with my Cruiser MPG

The color has really grown on me. Some people don't like it but I really do. Its not black and its not a light silver either. Plus it works well with the black bumpers, dark tint, and dark grey interior. When its dirty I don't notice and don't care.

As for the 1st scout asleep at the campsite... you're not welcome in my tent haha

looking good thats going to be my set up eventually. 3Fe POWA!, and there is no surf in ventura:grinpimp:

No regular meetings. In fact the dinner at Bad to the Bone in San Juan Capistrano was a first and hopefully not the last. We're just a group that's gotten together here on mud.

Glad to have you and Welcome....

Cool another gray cruiser.....

Welcome "that guy" :flipoff2: .

You've joined a good group here, hope to meet you soon at a "meeting".

Welcome :flipoff2: Yeah, meetings =  's :D
