I'm kinda late on this, but considering getting in on the fourth group.......What are the dimensions of this rack? Does anyone have pics with a RTT mounted on it...how much clearance does it have from the roof (no factory rack)...and lastly, can a person get eight mounting feet instead of just six? Thanks guys!
Cheers,
Gord
I have some interest in one for a FJ60/62 as well. Pricing and lead-time to 28660? PM me please.
I mounted my rack last weekend, I was part of order #2 a while back. Juan managed to come through just fine, shipping was amazingly fast my rack arrived in Sumas at Ship Happens (Washington State, at the Canadian border) in about 5 days from leaving Caracas. No pictures yet, but the silver and gold coloured plated hardware goes well with my black LX450's gold logos and silver OEM wheels!
If you're in Canada like Gord then don't hesitate to have one shipped up to the border for pickup. I didn't ship to Canada but there is no hassle shipping to the US and bringing them into Canada, I paid the usual taxes on mine (12% HST).
The six legs are ample strong to support a RTT, there is no issue with strength on this rack, it is well designed for sure and 8 legs would be overkill. After I assembled mine I stood on the rack and shook it side to side, the only give was in my soggy tired stock suspension (soon to be addressed).
Some are under the assumption that the side rails fold down to accommodate a RTT, this really isn't the case, they fold down, I'm assuming, to allow you to load the rack more easily from the side.
The sides can be removed but you would then have to take the light bar off as it is retained by the forward most thumb screw of the side rails. Removing the sides without taking the light bar off would leave it hanging on two forward tabs; the light bar is not strong enough to be left like this, it would flop about. It would be nice to have the side rails removable up to the raised "jerry can" section, that way you could probably mount a RTT and have the light bar and "jerry can" section still attached. If one were so inclined this could be fabbed up to work this way.
Assembly went well, some of the drilled holes etc. are a little off centre, but then again these are hand built, drilled, assembled and taken apart again, so everything lines up for the most part. I only had one hole that did not line up at a corner bracket rivet hole, I just chased it out with a drill and it went together fine.
I haven't measured the overall dimensions, but the rack sits quite tight to the roof, roughly 3/4" to the centre of the roof at its tightest. Taller brackets are available so that you can clear an OEM roof rack if you don't feel like removing it, but it must look strange.
Overall I'm super happy with my INTI, I waited a long time to get one and I'm glad I finally managed to, I didn't think that I would ever be able to lay my hands on one after La Cabra stopped bringing them in.
Gord if you are thinking of ordering one and want to check mine out you before you do, you are welcome to do so. I'm in Abbotsford, just PM me.
