Looks like it doesn't it. Only thing I'd worry about would be plunking down $500 up front with someone unknown on the board unlike Alvaro and Mudrak. Alvaro brought his in on his dime and then sold them.

Posted this link to portal because I didn't think the FL guy would be able to pull it off!

SD,

Did you score this?

No. He said I was second in line, but haven't heard back.

Well, the guy in Florida that's taken over the INTI rack thread in the 80's section now says OPPS, it's another $70 for the light rack bar up front. BULLSHIAT. That whole assembly is the front of the rack on the ones Alvaro brought in four years ago. It's all one piece up front. It includes the mesh screen in front of the lights, which has the four tabs to mount the lights, and the back portion of that assembly is the front rail of the roof rack itself that runs between the very front of the side rails.

Unless INTI is now building the racks with a single tube at the very front of the rack that's interchangable with the mesh light rack as an option, I think his add'l charge smells of a potential rat.

Opps, pure bullshiat!!!

OPPS. Are you the owner of Inti to assure what you are posting?

For your information and knowledge, Inti Roof Racks are only the rack. You can add: Light Bar, Ladder, rear base for Fog Light, Hilift Base (they don't do it any more because it was to heavy for the lateral Racks bar). you can only buy a small rack only for the Gas Tanks, etc.

Several years ago (aprox more than 10) the frames were made out of Steel and the lateral bars were weld to the structure (no screws). Now days, they are 90% made out aluminum. In fact, when they started to make the aluminum ones, you were able to decide which one you wanted (cost wise) the aluminum one was more expensive than the steel frame.

As you can read I know the product or their products for more than 18 years...

What I know is mine is mostly aluminum riveted together and had the light rack when I purchased it - no option. Perhaps that's just the way Alvaro brought them in. Call it like I see it.

Settle down guys. No flaming here. Lets keep it civil.

I know my light bar mounts and un-mounts. I also know my whole rack is aluminum except the gas can hoops. Ours is an older full length INTI with ladder and was made for a FJ60/62 and adapted (feet) to an 80.

Good luck bringing them in and if it all goes to plan, i think its a great deal.

Hey Dave, it would have been nice if you ended up making some INTI copies ---- at a reduced cost! :D
You never know, it could be as good as the Trasharoo idea.

Since I posted a comment on the 80 section. I may as well make one here. I really think we miss the opportunity to build stuff armor/racks for the 80 for a cheaper price (not necessarily lower quality) by not looking into making them in Mexico. The labor there is much cheaper. Material sourcing is not a problem either. If I can get some measurements from an Inti rack I would be more than happy to stop by and talk to a quality fabricator in Mexicali during my next trip (I don't make it down there often, except for my dentist visits, but a project like this could motivate me to do it ;) ) and either get quotes, or hell, have them make a prototype while I am at it if after discussing the build with the fabricator, it meets my target cost, (to resale them around $800 to $900 dls. I wouldn't be expecting big profits of course, but in the fun of the entrepreneurial spirit.

clamps: what would you recommend? and from where?
aluminum base: how wide and where would I look at bying them in the states in case they are hard to find in Mex?
bolts?
how are the side bars made to detach from the rack base? what clamps are used? and how many per side?
The front space to accommodate military jerry cans? does that include the Scepter brand?
how thick is the round tubing?

I like the idea of cheaper and good quality mods. However, you need the quality control to be 100%. When you get cheaper labor, you can start to mass produce and thats when the quality can be compromised. Not saying that the qulaity won't be there down South. They will only follow your template and work hard for their money. I recall a vendor who mass produces FJC after market parts down South had an issue on run of air dams aligning with the OEM holes on the roofrack recently. Customers from all over the US had issues. I guess thats why we pay big bucks for good quality hand made custom stuff.

I think Baja Rack is produced down South. I know they had shipping damage issues early on but I think they are good example of quality, at least in the FJC community (IMO).
