Last night, I aired down the 33s and squeezed it into the garage to install the Air Lift. It was very easy and straightforward. Once that was completed, I moved it out of the garage and started putting on the wheels one at a time.

The new tire and wheel on the right vs a 35x12.5r17 that had spent its entire life on a 10" wide rim.

I will be taking more pictures later today as it was dark when I put them on. Haven't driven it on the highway yet, but it is slower and the brakes are not as responsive initially.

Summit what is the tint you use for your front driver and passenger windows?

Truck looks so sweet! Nice new shoes.

Thanks for the compliments you guys!

If I remember correctly, it's a 15% or 20% tint. It's the same on all the windows.

I have the same 17x7.5 FJ rims and I'm looking at my options for 35's. The Kenda Technical Specs list the minimum rim width @ 8.5 inches for the 35*12.50R17 Now that you've had them for a while, I'm curious to know how they handle on the highway and whether or not the narrow rims have caused any less-than-acceptable wear pattern.

Anyone else running 35's on rims that are narrower than the Mfr's suggested minimum?

I've never had any problems running a tire on a wheel narrower than recommended. The old set wore extremely evenly across the tread. Might be the best wearing set of tires, I have ever had.

I believe they just list 8.5" wheel width to get the full 12.5" width achieved as mine are around 11.5" wide on my wheels which is exactly what I wanted.

However, I did just have to get my Kendas replaced under warranty with less than 15k miles. Literally yesterday. I had them installed 54 weeks ago.

After slightly less than 15k miles, the tires did get considerably harder and louder. I just drove on the highway with the new set and they are noticibly fresher.

I found the issue when I was working on the truck and had the driver's tire off last weekend. While I was rolling it across the garage floor I noticed some strange cracks forming. As the truck was on the lift I decided to spin the tires around to visually inspect all of them since I'm leaving for a 2000+ mile trip tomorrow morning.

The driver's tire alone had 14 spots of interest. The passenger tire had a nasty deep crack.

Here's a few pictures starting with the worst one I saw.

I have been wanting to switch to a BFG KO2 for awhile as the mud terrains aren't as ideal for the longer trips I'm taking, but they do grip really well. I've put them through quite a few trips and they've held up well to rocks, sand, mud, etc.

I was kind of bummed when the tire shop told me Kenda would replace the tires and prorate the set based on how much wear I put on the old ones. At that point I had just wanted that amount put towards a new set of BFGs as I didn't want to risk a blowout which could potentially roll my cruiser all to save a couple hundred bucks over a different set of BFGs. When I went to pick them up, the manager at the tire shop told me the Kenda rep had stopped by to look at them. I'm not sure if he decided to eat the cost on them, but they ended up not charging me a dime which was nice. I'll be keeping an extremely close eye on this set, and if they end up cracking again, they are going to put the original purchase price towards a different set of my choice. So basically I'm driving on free tires if they end up cracking so I'll be thoroughly using them later this week in Colorado and Utah.

Wow what a great look! I love the fact that your still using Toyota wheels. And you didn't use any spacers?

So I see you used VHT Grey and a clear coat but what about the outer edge of the wheel? It looks like you retained the brighter oem finnish. Did you tape it off our is it the light playing tricks on my eyes. Also what did you use to stick the emblems back on the center caps?

Thanks! That's correct. No spacers, but I have a 92 with a semi floater rear axle and shorter birfs than newer models so I think those would require spacers. The outer edge of the wheel is just playing tricks in the light with the metallic flake in the paint. It's all one color. The emblems just carefully pop out by playing with the back side of the cap.

How about an update on the Air Lift 1000 bags? how are they holding up?

Air bags have been fantastic. Haven't had an issue.

Nice wheels! What lift do you have on the truck? I'm thinking of going a little bigger next time.

It has a 50mm iron man lift that is too soft. It has front coil spacers to combat the stink bug look after adding the bumper and winch. Either 1.25" or 1.75". I can't remember which, and a 30mm spacer on the driver's rear coil (which now doesn't really matter since there are air bags). And a 0.5" body lift.

I guess I'll do an update for my second set of Kendas:

Initially they rode worse than the old set, but after some testing, I decided to have them traditionally balanced instead of using BBs. That cured the vibrations that they had. That easily might be the best $90 I have ever spent.

Tread has been wearing evenly.

This set has not developed any cracks and they now have about 30k miles on them.

Some chunking, but slipping tires in sharp and loose rocks will do that to anything. If you've been to the Hot Springs Off Road Park you know what I'm talking about.

I also finally just got a 5th center cap so as soon as I paint it, I will install it on the spare tire.

Oh and my eBay special TRD valve stem caps are trash. They have faded, and some have even lost the TRD part. Oh well they weren't expensive

And here's a recent photo

Thanks for all the compliments fellas!

I am not running wheel spacers. That was a big factor in my wheel decision. I just didn't want to take any chances with them.

These wheels are 17x7.5". They have 5" of backspacing compared to the 4.5" of my factory 15x7s.

I am liking them. They are pretty smooth. I balanced each one with about 8-9oz of air soft BBs. A little louder than my KM2s but not bad. I've run them on my mountain bikes and never had a bad experience with Kenda.

Here's some more photos I got while the lighting was right.
