Insight on rust?

Hey everyone!

First post here, I’ve been shopping around for a 100 series for a month or so now. I found an 07’ a few hours away but it had spent the first half of its life in the rust belt.

I’m from CA so rust is not usually an issue. Besides the rust the car is exactly what I’m looking for. Based on this video is this an elbow grease and some TLC or should I run for the hills? They painted over the frame so it’s hard to tell but I can see some pitting in areas.

Thanks for any input in advance. Hoping to officially join the 100 series crew soon!

The bottom of the truck has been cleaned and sprayed with something. The frame in the very beginning looks sketchy - holes, rather than pitting. Remember that every other fitting and threaded connection will be stuck and likely to snap off when turned.

I would move on - if you live in Calif., there is no reason to buy a sketchy truck with a rustbelt past.

Looks like holes in the frame in front of the transmission crossmember... definitely has been sprayed over with black paint... frame restoration can run into big bucks!

Yea I ended up finding a rust free 2000 LC. I just needed to hear it from someone else that I was being irrational. Thank you haha

That’s a hard pass. Be patient and find a CA or AZ truck.
