That's the fun of the forum sometimes. If you don't like a thread then don't read/post. :)

Here, we'll keep it going. Junk was on me (like he always is :) ) about tough wheeling. OK, here's a few pics for him.

OK Junk, we all know pictures don't do justice. But how about these spots. These are spots some poeple try and some people don't. They're not easy. Whatcha think bro? Consider the steepness and the size of the rocks compared to the huge truck.

This thread shouldn't be about which is better the 80/100 it should be about the terrible roads you have in AZ, based on these pictures you guys need to start paying your road taxes.

A lot of the roads in downtown Tucson are poor, but compared to LA, all the roads here are smoother!

Dude, you can't post photos where a Jeep and a Discovery have already spanked the obstacle and expect us to consider the obstacle difficult.

Please try again.

Bypass Todd. Bypass? ;p

And since when can't a Disco spank a Cruiser? I've seen Disco's spank Cruisers (and visa versa). We're not always better. :)

Jeeps? Don't go there. Cruisers can't keep up with them (well, some 40's). Let's be honest with ourselves. :) (But ours don't break. :D )

80 vs 100?

This thread is wonderful....i think shotts 100 is awesome, but he pinted out himself the only beef i have with this whole discussion...15k VS. 75k.... for the nicer ride, v8, trac control, blah blah blah, i know there is a huge list of positives over the 80 but i just cant justify spending that much when a 10k dollar 80 could do almost as much, as much, or MAYBE more...granted i would take shotts 100 anyday.

I do find it amusing after all the "my 100 can wheel anywhere" talk that I should now expect to see not the Shotts100, but the Shotts80 at Moab.

It sounds as though you're afraid to wheel your rig in anything but wide open spaces.

Tell me this isn't the case.

As for Amando's 100 -- the bumpers were "ugly" in the Moab pics -- he'd just finished them shortly before that trip. They're painted now -- I suppose he could've painted them to match the body color...but that might've been too poser :flipoff2: :D

Bring the 100. It's not like we're talking about tight Rubicon trails. It's Moab for godsakes. Keep off the 5-rated trails and you should be more than fine...and...you'll get to keep bragging rights.

That's what I was thinking. I think we need to see the 100 in action. We need to see that traction controlling, trail taming suspension do it's thing in the rough stuff, although the 75k vs 15k might slow me down as well. Still, if your 100 does Golden Spike (like Amando's did last year), you can effectively remove any inferiority complex your 100 series may have. I just hope you have lots of touchup paint for those purdy bumpers.

Guys: Sorry, but I'm going to Moab to have FUN, not to show off the 100. I know the 100 can complete all this stuff without a problem. I've proven that in AZ already (though I know Moab's different...but so what.). I decide 3 months ago to retire the 100 from the BAD trails. I bought an 80 then built it for those trails. Heck, I had some welding done to the rear end of the 80 cuz I bent it up 2 weeks ago. Why should I put the 100 through the same torture? I shouldn't. The 80's better suited.

You-all believe what you want about off-road capabilty between the two. Today, the 80's gonna win but on VERY few trails. Wait a couple years until they have L-series shocks and spacer front end lifts for the 100. Oh boy.

Oh, one last thing for Cruiserhead05:

I bought mine new and wheeled it from day 1. That's how the $75K worked out. If I had a used 98 or 99 100, say for $20K, locked it, then did the same thing to it as I did my 80 (cut the frames and custom make bumpers, shortening the rig) the 80-owners would flip there wigs...ala Podvin's 100. Here we go again....but don't forget....I have an 80 to compare.

I think we're headed towards a "triple dog dare" here, but I have to come clean as well. I catch grief all the time from my local friends because I always take my FJ40 through the Rubicon. I know my 80 could make it, but the 40 is a better tool for the job. I bring my 80 to Moab because with 800 miles of highway between here and there, the 80 is a better tool for the job. So I can respect ShottsUZJ100's decision to bring the 80 to Moab-it's a better tool for the job....

So like recently I was thinking I'd like a new cruiser. Then I thought of 100s but aren't they really inferior to the 80?
Totally untrue, all the housewives around the neighborhood agree that you can fit more grocery bags into the back of the 100 series, and the navigation system is invalueable in finding the local soccer fields!

One last thing CruiserDrew: DUDE, if I had a built-up 40 I'd be ROCKIN' IT TO DEATH at Moab. :D Ya, I want one bad, but ya can't have everything at once (unless you're Arnold)! I'd KILL for my friend Dan's 40. KILL!!! :flipoff2: He makes everything look easy....sucker! :D

At the same time, I won't listen to SHxx about a 100 not makin' it through. :flipoff2: To those, get a 100, modify it and shut the frickin; HExx up! :D

I was hoping you'd bite on the triple-dog-dare :flipoff2:
All it would do is prove the point you've been presenting all along...and the worst case for the 100 is that you'd have some scrapes on the underside of a bumper or two -- no real biggie...

I know. God this is fun! :D

We'll see. I sure would "prefer" to bring the 100. It's a longgg drive. :)

And Pitbull, as for the FJ? Since it's built on that Tacoma platform I'd expect it to make a great truck. Can't wait to see it!
