I am about to adopt an epic FJ62 (more on that when it hits my driveway). I'm looking for some advice on some purchases I should make in preparation for receiving this truck. My goal is to take advantage in this slow period in my work schedule to tackle the truck and get it buttoned up quick. I pick up the truck late next week. I know I'll discover what's up with this stuff once it gets here, but I'm trying to do a little pregame action to get me on the fast track to having this stuff patched up. I have access to a high mileage parts truck it looks like I can savage some stuff from.

This new truck's cab is a total basket case. It has also been sitting for most of the last year, and for the last several years before that it was rode hard and put away wet doing big road trips once or twice a year with little attention in-between. Any issues with the drivetrain I can tackle myself with no issues, it's just the little stuff that always trips me up!

My issues are as follows:

Windows: All of the windows are slow, the passenger front won't roll up all the way under it's own power. Is there something I should try to service first, or should I go ahead and purchase a window motor and assembly just to have ready? Am I likely to be able to revive the existing power windows motors? Should I try and grease and clean the tracks or is it likely to be related to the window motors?

Windshield wipers: They're extremely slow, they do go from intermittent to low to high, but it's like everything is just slowed way down. I've never really messed with this sort of thing outside of just replacing it. Am I able to service the windshield mechanism, or should I just buy a new motor and linkage and just plan on redoing it?

Climate control: AC compressor is out due to a broken bracket, so I won't know about the AC part of this until I plug a new compressor in and try to charge it, but I want to get the rest of it ready to rock in the mean time. I can tell the linkage behind the climate control panel is jamming, but I have not pulled it to see what the deal is. The recirculating control doesn't work, it just slides freely, I don't currently know whether it's stuck open or closed. It does move between the vents and defrost. The heater control feels like the linkage is bound up. The heater does engage, but it doesn't feel like it ever gets to full steam. Should I go a head and purchase a new panel in anticipation of this thing being bad, or is there some sort of common fix since the whole panel seems to be wonky? Is the issue with the heater possibly related to the heater control valve? Should I just plan on getting a new one?

Thanks for any answers! I'm sure I will be able to answer most of these myself when I get the truck here, but like I said, I'm trying to be prepared beforehand.

@Output Shaft just posted up a large and detailed post about rehabbing the wiper linkage assembly. Well worth a look.
Normals would be...
- Knuckle rebuild (purchase kit from one of the well-known vendors on here)
- COMPLETE fluids flush and replace
- Party trick or Rodney flush the tranny
From there it really all depends on what you mean by an absolute basket case.
Other main thing is to fix ANY rust that you find as, well, rust never sleeps.

Luckily this thing is mechanically a work of art, albeit a little dirty. Already planning on knuckles, ect. It's also shockingly rust free, an order restoration.

The basket case part is in cab, she just needs love. It's not the worst I've seen by any means, but it's definitely rough. I'll bet I can clean it up nicely.

trail tailor has some of the key interior parts...
