Thanks all, IMPEX … paid an additional $10 on account straight after paying their shipping quote and sure enough there was an increase of $2.70 on the shipping charge due to increased weight of final packaging… saved a couple of days and potential misinterpretations … thanks for the heads up 👍

Link to where you guys are ordering gloves from??

The relevant link to Impex and other suppliers can be found at Post #354 and elsewhere in the thread below. At the moment, there are good reports throughout this thread on favourable Impex pricing for 'globes' and other parts. Reliable offshore alternatives include Partsouq (UAE), Megazip (Singapore), Amayama (Japan). Some eBay suppliers are well-regarded, some less so.

For convenience, see

Thank you. I am at 7 graduations so I think it is time.

Placed my order yesterday. Looking forward to this- truck's been riding between "pretty rough" and "are we sure this is this a Lexus?" since I got it, and this should help bring it back to life again. I've got a ton of other front end parts to redo waiting in the garage, as well, so I'll probably just tear it apart and redo all the stuff, and then (hopefully) marvel at how awesome everything is. :D

I ordered Monday 10/4 and the payment has processed but I have heard nothing from Impex. I have checked my account everyday and nothing there either? Does it take a few days from ordering to hear from them???

Yeah. Once you pay, they go pull the part from whatever remote warehouse (I assume) to their shipping facility, and that takes a few days. Once that's done, status will change to "in stock," and then you create the package to ship, finalize shipping costs, etc.

It's a bit of a weird/ particular process, but I tested the waters with a couple of drive flanges for ~$100 total before I plunked out $600-700 to get my globes shipped around the earth.

Edit: $642 shipped, unless I have to bump a few dollars up to make it get released. For what I'm doing, with OEM parts, on a truck that's got 230k-ish miles on it (and that I'll likely never touch again in my time with it)... ~$160 per OEM accumulator seems really reasonable.

675 total for me. I ordered 10/4 and they arrived 10/15. The actual shipping from Japan took like 3 days.

where are you getting your new fluid from?

I was just gonna stop at a dealer and get some.

where are you getting your new fluid from?

Depending on how AHC Fluid is packaged in your part of the world, you want either ….

Part No. 08886-81221 (1 litre plastic bottle)

or

Part No. 08886-01805 (2½ litre steel drum)

…. suggest don’t let a Dealer (or anybodyelse) sell you anything but genuine AHC Fluid. Other fluids (especially brake fluid) are harmful to the membranes in ‘globes’ and other parts of the AHC/TEMS systems.

I had to give Impex an additional 2.14 so they'd release my order, lol. What a weird system. But- they're moving. Should be here today or tomorrow, depending on how FedEx does. Says tomorrow, but also says they're on the truck and out for delivery today, so... who knows.

Overall: 17 days total for getting OEM parts to me from halfway around Earth, at a low cost? Not bad.

I better get up and get to clearing out the garage so I can work on the thing.

THANKS FOR THE HELP! Order placed today- F/R and 4 jugs of fluid. US$617.70 waiting on the shipping total.

I ordered 4 new globes 10/28. My shipment was created on 11/9. I just paid for my shipment, but I never saw an option to add some extra dollars any where in case the shipping cost was off. Oh well, here's hoping for the best.

Keep watching your Impex account, the notification of any shortfall will appear there … I paid in extra using PayPal and quoting my Impex Account number before the notification, remember it not being overly difficult. Good luck

My globes were shipped on 11/11 and arrived at my door 11/15. I only had about a day setback due to not initially paying enough for shipping. For what it's worth, if you are only ordering 4 globes the package size will be 45x38x21cm and 11.1 kg. If you can find way to incorporate that when you checkout, then you're shipping costs may be correct. It makes zero sense that I can order and ship 4 globes from Japan to Mississippi for cheaper than I can purchase 1 globe from my local dealership, but I sure am happy someone found this option. I also have 3L of AHC fluid and techstream ready, so I will be undertaking this soon, hopefully.

The "stealerships" earn their reputation in this category. Online parts networks have revealed how broken and non-value-add most dealers are as well as how broken their pricing model is.

I think the majority of the reason is that customers coming in for service will not check pricing often. Therefore 100-1000+% markups on parts costs can be an easy way to rake in profit for dealers. For globes the markup appears to be somewhere around 1000% at my local dealer (over $1,000 per globe). Which should be a typo, but no, 1000% appears to literally be the markup applied to a common wear item of their flagship SUV. 🤦‍♂️
