Okay, so I hope this is a quick one. I am replaceing the belt on my fj60, and the ac is not working, but is spinning freely. I am not looking to fix the ac, so do i need to have the belt?
Thank you.

& keep the belt stashed in the truck. It can be used in an emergency if the smog pump seizes out on the road. Can fit the alternator/water pump/ crank pully (but you'll lose power steering) to allow you to drive the truck home.

I cut mine off after the AC compressor seized and left it off for several months. You'll be fine.

Thank you all

Yep, I had to resort to this temporary fix on the side of I-25 200 miles from home about 20 years ago. Just need to have a few wrenches with you, IIRC just what was in the OEM tool bag under the drivers seat.
