Sorry if this has been covered, but I could not find any info in a search.

Does anyone have a solution or source for replacing/upgrading the idle solenoid on the early carbs? Specifically a 1970 FJ40? I see later idle solenoids for 1975 and above being sold, but none for the earlier models.

Thanks for any help.

I'd be checking the spark plugs, ignition timing and points gap. Also inspect the contacts in the cap and on the outside. If the contacts are aluminum, check for oxide build up - its an insulator - I scrap it off with the small blade on a swiss army knife for the inside contacts

Getting some dieseling when I turn mine off.
That's not really a common sign of a bad solenoid. I deleted my solenoid years ago and don't get dieseling if I keep it in good tune.
