Mudsters,

Kindly help me figure out what distributor is residing in my 1974 FJ40 (1F engine #F572287) see images below. I stupidly assumed it is a 1F dizzy since it's a 1F motor, but the JTO Mel's electronic ignition plate does not fit, so I'm guessing the diz is a 2F. The second photo shows the ill-fitting plate-none of the holes line up.

Can a guy tell just from these photos? I can't find any tag on it either...

Always appreciate the help,

Dave

Looks like a Cali-spec '74 'medium cap' dizzy, which is 2f everywhere else.

Yep, it's a desmogged CA rig. If I'm lucky, JTO will swap the ignition for the 2F version. If not I will post it for sale here. What do you charge for your Pertronics ignition? What about the entire distributor?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Not that I mind the inquiry, but my sales of dizzies basically stopped dead cold once @Trollhole started offering his units. Pure economics. Unlike his carbs, I haven't heard anything negative about his dizzies.

Ahh, I understand. From what I have read, that's a good way to go. For the moment I'll hope for the best and try to exchange my Mel's F unit for the 2F...see if I can get some improvement in idle & acceleration.

Thank you,

Dave
