I love my 2016 8 speed tranny with TSB 0209-17

For the record: my 200 is a 3/16. @Rodwilsonsr It sounds like you are getting the run around. Or maybe I'm not seeing the nuance of your situation? There is life after the late model 8 speed 200 factory tranny issues...

Just an update. I took the LC to Toyota. I asked for a Mechanic to test drive with me. They had me sit in the waiting area until they found someone.
After 15 minutes or so, the service advisor got me, he said the shop foreman took it for a ride already.
He confirmed the shift shudder.
They want me to leave the LC overnight so they can check the transmission fluid when it's cold.
After that, they are going to open a task case...I'm assuming a task case is there way of troubleshooting.
I'm dropping it off tonight, they will have it all day tomorrow. Will let you all know what they come back with.

I’ll update as well.

I scheduled my service online, and when I did so I literally copied and pasted the link for the TSB when I described the issue.

I dropped the LC off on Monday and repeated the issue and what needed to be done to correct it... giving the service tech that I was talking to the exact TSB number again. I was told that it would be about two hours wait due to the mechanic needed to drive the truck. I said that was fine.

About 1.5 hours later a different service adviser called me back. He handed me the print out of the exact TSB that I sent them, and he had highlighted “hard shift” portion between 1st and 2nd gears. He exclaimed “good news! We found this service bulletin and it describes the exact issue that you are having, it’s a software update which means it will only take about 20 minutes to apply the fix to your vehicle.”

Wow, great sleuthing by them, Huh? I didn’t even bring up the fact that I had sent them the exact document that he was showing me like it was the cure for cancer. Lol. I just said thanks so much, that’s great news. He said my truck was about 3 months out of the warranty period for the update to be free, but at just 1/2 hour of labor I gladly paid the $63 and went on my way.

The LC, as previously mentioned, is amazingly smooth with the update. I anticipated a positive change, but this is night and day. I can’t say enough how much of a difference this software update has made in the driving experience. It’s awesome!

That is great news. Hope you still plan to get the pedal commander. It's a game changer. I disconnected mine because I am dropping it at dealer tonight...but I did a road trip over the past few days without it and it was pathetic. I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they programmed the factory settings.

Yep - PC actually showed up yesterday. I ordered one for the TRD Pro 4Runner that we have as well. I plan on installing both today after watching the USWNT game. Go America!

Thanks again for the suggestions on this topic, the LC is so much more enjoyable now.

What setting on the PC do you use for just normal everyday driving?

The city mode gives me enough to be super pleased. Sport mode is great if I have a specific purpose I want to nail. Sport+...Holy s***e.
For just being a plug n play device...it WOKE this machine up.

Why did you chose Pedal Commander vs. Sprint Booster? PC seems to be knock off of the SB and looks much larger. Am I missing some benefits by going with SB?

I don't have any real numbers yet...I have been too focused on the tranny issue. Once the tranny is resolved, I am going to run a mpg test for a couple weeks.

Just another update. Toyota has had my LC for 3 days. The engineers are involved and have now suggested to replace the computer. the computer is 3 days out and we will see if this fixes the shudder.

Another update.
I went down to the dealer to get some stuff out of my LC. The mechanic stopped me and said, we just got word from Toyota, we are replacing the transmission...replacing the computer made no difference. Everything is still under full factory warranty, not just the drive train warranty.

So, this being a 2016 with 13k on it, I'm happy they are doing everything to remedy the issue...but I'm also concerned with the whole concept of replacing the transmission on such a low mileage, low aged vehicle.

Are there any other options I could chase down with Toyota other than replacing the transmission? Is a buy back an option or any thing else I could go after? There is just a level of discomfort with having to replace such a huge component with such a newer vehicle.

Just took it over the mountains in the San Bernadino National Forest from Palm Springs to Anza/Temecula. It was a whole new experience 2nd endorsement to my 1st endorsement.

Update....
Transmission has been replaced.
Unfortunately I still feel the shudder between first and second.
Going back to the dealer Monday.

Another update...
I brought it back to the dealer today. And I had a long conversation with the shop foreman who was very nice. He was the one that installed the new transmission.

He asked me why I was coming back because he told the service advisor to tell me to drive it for 2 weeks before coming to any conclusions...basically so the computer can learn how I drive. Well, the advisor never told me anything other than "it's all set".

The shop foreman verified he could duplicate the shudder with the original transmission...and he also said he felt it with the new transmission. And, since they have nothing in the area to compare this to, he is wondering if this is how it actually works. He also verified that this mostly happens with a soft pedal, slow acceleration. Under a fairly quick acceleration, it shifts pretty normal.
So I am very confident the foreman knows exactly how to duplicate and describe the issue.

At this point, he doesn't know what else it could be, as far as he is concerned, the parts have been replaced and there is nothing else to replace. If I do come back, he said they will probably get the area toyota person to come in and see whats up.
He was also very candid is telling me that the Toyota "engineers" are rarely engineers...they are just employees that looks stuff up on the computer then suggest a remedy...for whatever that is worth.

I'm sure I will be back after the 2 weeks of driving around.
Any suggestions on what possible positions I can take on this?

what did y'all pay ? my dealer said 110 just to go ride and diagnose it , and then if it does it they will fix it then check to see if under warranty , but according to the tsb it is because it was bought in New York , mine has 53 k on it tsb says up to 70 k

As mentioned earlier, I had it done while getting serviced around 64k and it was covered under warranty. The tech said that it was covered until 70k miles.
