the problem i am haven is the engine is not running up to its name and preformance that i know it has to offer i have done advanced the timeing as far as i can up to the point of spark knock and backed it do tilled it stoped i replaced the fuel pump filter and the mass air sencer upgraded ,a pace setter header and a k n n 360 filter and also the disturberator cap the plugs and the tires from 33" boggers to a set of 31" mud and snow tires have no idea what else to do but pull the engine out and drop a 350 small block in. The engine acts like it is not getting enought fuel and i also replaced the injectors when i had the motor installed i have no clue what else to do the truck is an early 95 thanks rockready the best way to get hold of me is by email at toycrawler85@yahoo.com no caps

Shots in the dark.

Fuel pressure regulator?
Fuel dampener?
Fuel pump?
AFM adjusted properly?
Are you timing the engine correctly (shorting the diag block)?
Trouble codes?
Have you geared your axles to match the tires?
Jerod mentioned cam timing.
PCV or EGR issues?

Keep in mind, the 22RE is not a race engine. If you want V8 performance, then drop in a V8. Sounds like you are making excuses to do that anyways. The 22RE was made to get you where you want to go, not necessarily get you there fast.

If you are running 33" tires with the stock 4.10:1 gears your truck will be a slug.

That said, you can get reasonable power from a 22RE. I'm please with mine, but I don't count on 75mph and am content at just getting where I need to go in a reasonable amount of time.

You can have my 22RE, when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers...

This sounds like another post from somebody that found out it has 4:10's... And Chevy's have 4:10's... I must be able to bolt the biggest tire I can afford to it.

It's only 100 some odd horsepower, OP... But it will go for forever WITH PROPER PM, and get 20mpg doing it.

Rock, the problem, if we're clear here, is not the gears in the rear end. It's the relatively high gears of the transmission.

Is this thing an Auto or 5speed? Is the check engine light on?

i`ve checked everything but the timeing the engine was built for racing i bought it from lc engeenering . Toyota guys out in ariozna im running stock tires and gear thats what has me confused it has twice the hp and trq. A stock 22re has. its a 5 speed no ac engine light not on that the thing it would run 75-80 on the interstate and i also put on a big boar throtal body

Injectors not big enough?

And stock tires are 28"

sorry i have the fuel pressure measured and everything from the tank replaced due to broken fuel pump bolts the fuel pump, filter and the injectors have all been replaced at the same time and ive had no dash lights come on but the dis. Cap has been replaced but after a day or two i will get no throttle responce and i will hear a pop comeing from the cap runs great when i install a new ono that it goes to crap after that

Another ideas. OX sensor. Is it hooked up? Where is it located? What kind is it? You say you don't have a CEL. Does the light come on when you turn the key, before you start the engine (is the bulb working). Are you using the factory ECU? If so, it might not support the power you are trying to get from the engine.

Why are you running a 225hp 22RE in an off-road truck? The only way to get that kind of HP from a 22RE is with a radical engine build and a cam that would provide poor performance in an off-road environment.

i have had the injector changed out to the biggest ones for the stock fuel rail.

Why? Installing the biggest baddest injectors will get you no where. You need to calculate the expected fuel needs of the engine and select the properly sized injectors. Injectors too large can cause there own problems, like poor performance (overly rich) at idle.

sorry i have the fuel pressure measured.

What was the fuel pressure? Where did you measure it? And don't go looking up the expected pressure and giving me that. What did the gauge say?

I'm starting to suspect you don't know what you are doing with this engine or your expectations are too high. A 225hp 22RE should make stupid rpm, but run like crap around town and on the rocks. It would be fine for a desert race truck, but that's not what we do here.

Last question. How old are you?

I'm looking at an old catalog so bear with me...

There in no LC Engine that has 2x HP over stock?... MAYBE a carbed engine, but definetly not EFI...

And it wouldn't have ANY bottom-end...

The cam would be at such a small window for the long stroke it has...

i dont remember the fuel pressure i do have a cel and it does work the engine that i was havein trouble with back in 08 was the old 22re motor was shot to no repair and i turn 25 today i went to roush creek pa two years ago the truck performaned great then i cahnged the throtle body thats when the problems started 4 me

You posted this quote on my profile page......tech is in here.....

Could the throttle body be the wrong one i bought it from lc as well as the engine and the injectors

What is the engine code?

Was it a stock replacement? or a performance product?
Why was the throttle body replaced in the first place?

Do you have a FSM (type Toyota FSM into google)
and a multimeter to test electrical components?

Why are you messing with the timing?

Are you timing the engine correctly? If you didn't jump the diagnostic box, the answer is no

Did it ever run correctly?

Why didn't you call LCE after it wasn't right when you put on the new throttle body?

If you want us to help you, you have to help us....

Part of the throttle body equation is the TPS. I'm wondering if it's out of whack or if it was just screwed on.
