What do you get for 3200# of scrap car these days? I've got some stuff starting to accumulate.
It was $243.61 before the $50.00 deduction for no hole in the gas tank.

A friend of mine bought A LOT of stuff from a local manufacturer that was shutting down. He had no room for this metal cabinet and it was left sitting outside. I made him an offer for it and he through the wooden toolbox in for free.

Looks like a blueprint cabinet we had a long time ago

The drawers are about 3” deep, so I can store more than paper in them.

I was needing more flat surface/work area (don’t we all) when I found this rolling bench on the side of the road. I had already planned on building one, but I seriously don’t have time for another project. I may do a little R&R on it down the road, but for now it will be serviceable as it is.

Nice find…. It’s great when you see something that just fits the bill. I am just now throwing out a butcher block island top with 6 pull thru drawers I picked up on the road 15 years ago. I was so nice I felt bad about damaging the top so I took a 1/2 plywood and made a shoebox type cover. The butcher block top is as good now as when I got it. It was about 30” by 60 “ and was ideal. Converting the room or it would still be there

I love that feeling when ya find something on the roadside and you know exactly where its gonna go, and what's goin on it!!! lol Ive had some pretty decent finds like that, and then when I out grow them, or don't need them anymore, I put them back out and let someone else have their turn. Hopefully makes their day the way it made mine when I found it.

Today I clearanced the frame for the radiator. Then I discovered that under all of the wires and hoses there really is an engine hiding in there.

This seems like a lot of work but when I read about your FJ45 …seems like no comparison. THAT was some monumental effort. This build should look very sweet

Thanks Al, both are a lot of work. But I enjoy the process and the end results.

I should adopt that approach..too many times I hate doing it BUT … love having done it…not all the time but quite a few. I think I’m addicted to the end result on some things

Al I really enjoy the end result and my passion is building but I hate maintenance. Which is humorous since my paid profession is maintenance 🤷🏻‍♂️

Forward progress on the 56’ today. The initial install for clearance was started today. So far, so good.

@Michael B it sure looks like you have room in the engine compartment. Did you have any advance information that it would fit so well or just a shot in the dark?

Al LS swaps in that body style and the chassis I’m using are very common. But it is the first time I have done it.

I have never swapped engines other than my lawn tractor..a 26hp Briggs. Some of the engine in the vintage bikes should have been swapped but finding one was much more of a headache. . . you made it run under any circumstances

One area of my motoring life I have little knowledge of is swapping engines and it appears the LS is a popular swap

I have swapped a lot of engines over the decades but this is my first LS. If it were a standard old school SBC, it would be running already.
