Hi brains,
I couldn't find much info on speedo drive gears for 75 series landcruisers so hopefully i can get some answers here!
I've got a 1997 Toyota landcruiser 75 series ute. Had the transfer case overhauled by Toyota itself because it was leaking quite a bit. The seals failed the first time so they had to re-do it again two months later.
Now about 600km after this my speedo stopped working. Turned out the plastic bit on the drive gear snapped in half.
Just put a new speedo deive gear in myself, worked fine for about 300km and then a similair thing happened after driving on a corrigated road.(see pics of speedo drive gear now)
Any ideas how this could happen? Could i have done something wrong?
Pretty sure i installed it right as it worked fine.
Could toyota have done any damage with overhauling the transfer case twice? They already neglected a warranty request as i found it quite odd that the speedo drive gear broke 600km after they put it back together.
Thanks for your time
