Edit: Cause Jim asked for a comparison. Note taking these pics off the internet, not anyway related to these trucks.

OK, I'll start.

I seen this at the expedition forum, a 45 tub placed on a HZJ79 drive train and box. I just thought it was really cool, and almost like the 70 series box better than a 45 box. Anyway, once I get around to my rusty BJ42, hope to turn it into something that looks like this.
Cheers,
Deny

Updated for jim.

That's a sweet truck, the 70 box looks cool to me. I always liked Bruce's idea of chopping an M101 trailer box down to.

45 cab with coils and a 1HZ - what's not to like?! It probably has A/C too!

Looks really good from that angle.

Were they able to get the front axle centered in the wheel well? Looks a bit back. That's the one thing I haven't liked about some of the 45 body on 80 frame projects is where the body lines up with stock engine and rad location. The 70 config would be similiar to an 80 I'd guess. Move the powertrain and rad back is probably easier than moving axle/steering forward to make it all work.

BTW Deny; coils , I thought you were old school :flipoff2:.

Don't worry, my 42-45.5 creation will be totally old school, leaf springs, 3B, and all! I am now just wondering how I will be able to chop up the 45 bed to make it look somewhat like that 79 bed. I think cuting out the fender to make it more square looking and trimming the bottom edges will maker look good.

Don't worry, the 60 is next on the list for chopping.

You want the 45 box looking like a 75 box to put on your 79, or your 42/45?

I really liked the look of Waynes old 75 with 45 box. Not sure how it would all line up with a 79 cab/wheelbase.

No, I want a flat deck on the 79, but I want a chopped up 45 box on the 42/45.5, or a chopped up 79 box on the 42/45.5. I don't really know, but I want it to look somewhat stock, but modifed so it doesn't have such a huge over hang, then need a little bigger wheel opening for the 38s.

Yeah that looks pretty good, but I don't think I will chop it as much as I would still like to have around a 6 foot bed.

For Frame lengthening, I am not sure, all I know is it is sorta rusty just before the rear axle, so I have to fix it there anyway, so I figure some welding and fishplates should get me by.

It's a race then on who can finish first, my pick up project vs yours!:hillbilly: I guess all depends on how fast we can get all our other projects finished eh.

Yup just got a few things to do on my 60, lindsays 60, my dodge, build a shop, finish a few things on the trailer....

Guess I am a shop ahead then eh. (although I do want to sort of finish it up a bit and install a bigger door, so I can keep driving my constantly higher growing trucks in there)

You don't need to install a bigger door. Just lower your concrete. :flipoff2:

Nice looking truck. I suppose butchering the 42 into something like that is acceptable. I prefer the look of the traditional 45 box on the 45. The 70 series box in the first pic resembles the local skanks with their skirts hiked up too high, revealing all beneath. Mind you, that's probably not a negative thing in your books, being a guy and all...:p

I'm not butchering, I'm saving. This thing was voted rustiest in show a couple years back, nothing on the road could touch it. If it got into the hands of steve or mike it would be chopped up into a bunch of little peices (not that I am against that, but I promised Paul I would bring it back to it's former glory)
Oh, and skanks with short skirts are where its at:grinpimp:
