Bringing this thread up from the dead just for the hell of it thanks to a recent thread in the 45 section. What all you say about this idea for the rusty 42? Course it will not be red, and there will be a few things that look a lot better then the stick figure body armour I painted on there!:hillbilly:

I think it looks a lot like Trillian. I'll make you a canvas top when you're ready for it. I checked out the thread you mentioned last night... top quality work. Thought it'd be cool to make a 45 pick up box into a bed. :wrench::hillbilly:

Your driveshafts look a little spindly.

so is it going to be a removable top? I think corner windows are a little different in the 40 vs the 45, are you going to keep the bar doors in the bacK, so that you can emergency escape?

Yes removable top. Don't know about the barn doors, but I am at least going to keep the two square windows, not sure if I will make them able to open up (probably not because I plan to run the headache rack when the cage is not in the back). emergency escape? from what?

When your floating down the river...

It would be cool to be able to climb itno the back without getting out in the mud to hook up a strap, or camperise the back for a trip....

When floating down the river I won't have to get out, I will turn on the outboard and steer over to the bank. Done. And I will not have to hook up any straps because I will have the person who is stuck have to hook up the strap!:p

So the concept is stretched cab, regular 45 box shortened up overhang in the back? Looks good, but won't that functionally turn it into the same truck as your mine truck? Not that there's anything wrong with that, since you said you aren't going to wheel the mine truck.

Yes to your first question. No to your second question.

Mine truck is a work truck, just rear locker on 35in muds will have flat deck that will be a bit bigger then wanted for wheeling truck, extra heavy things like possibly hydrolics for dumping bed (like my dads), AC, and quad ramp inserts in the deck. It will essentually replace my Dodge. I might get an older dodge in the future as a spare work truck/tow rig, but that is down the road.

Wheeling truck will be locked front and rear on 38 swampers. everything chopped and tucked away for wheeling and built for that purpose. Not too pretty with paint and body work.....

Might be similar out of the box, but work truck will be built for work and comfort (good highway/gravel travel truck with occasional hunting duties), while 42 will be old school bush beater built for wheeling and camping. Next level type expeditions.:hillbilly:

And which rig will see the most Southerly highway miles?

Depends if I am heading south to wheel or just a quick trip to visit family and friends. but if combined It may be mine truck hauling wheeling truck on trailer.:hillbilly:

Oh and Martin the 42 will not get an 1HZ, it will still be 3B w turbo and intercooler. And possibly if extra cash is lying around might even get portals.

I meant the deep, far south.

Oh if I go there it will probably be Old Blue.

I think the title of this thread threw martin off, I guesss you're selling th spare HZ

So old blue isn't getting mothballed waiting for your retirement afterall, good to hear.

Stretched cab and regular box puts you at what, 120" wheelbase?

No Old Blue will get some leg streching every now and then, mostly in the summers (didn't you see me buy all the extra turbo stuff so I can put all the stuff I borrowed off blue back on).

What is a stock 45 wheelbase? or a 60 wheelbase? I will try to stick as close to that as possible, just need to trim fenders to suit.

Guess I will be more around the 116+ wheel base, but I don't want to make it too long.
