I'm going to hijack my thread back, anyone know a good place tofind a 1.5X6X.75" ram for under 60 bucks?

Need to track down on so Dusty can port my box next weekend :)

I did mean thicker material, not diameter ;)

But that will be stupid strong steering.
I need to keep the inside diameter the same cause I already have tube adapters. I worry that if my tierod is too strong the knuckle may become the weak link. But weakness is poorly tolerated on this build-no weakness permitted

Dan you need to get your own thread. have you checked the local morgan and slates? ill port your box and you can figure out how to mount the bender to my driveway. I was thinking about welding a mount to the fire hydrant

Good idea. Maybe you can simply say it is for emergency "doctor" stuff that other lower people wouldn't understand.

It is called a hammer drill and readhead bolts. Dawn will love it. My deal on a ram no longer sell that item so I need to track down something. THey do have it at Morgan Slates, but don't know what size they have or how much.

Mine from West Texas Offroad ran $160. Not saying it can't be found for $60, but good luck!

Call Baileynet.com and see what they have available.

The rams from PSC or Rock logic are way less bulky and so much easier to mount with hymes on either side of the ram which also makes them easy to dial in their length. I thought about the Ag application but I am so glad I went with the nice compact option.

I think my ram from PSC cost 150-160 and came with all the tabs, bolts, hoses, hymes and hydraulic connections I needed. All I had to do was tap the box. Easy enough took an evening to install.

what is PCS full name for google search?

Now, what are the opinions on a miniturck steering pump pushing a 2" bore X8" rod? I have read confliciting on a 1.5 or a 2" bore. I was planing on following a tech link on pirate for increasing the flow for my steering pump or should I focus on a 1.5" bore?

I've been told by many wheelers more experienced than me to go with a 2" ram if you're gonna run 40" or bigger tires.

Stock toy pumps suck IMHO.

a 2" ram will be fine with a sag pump
(I am running one full hydro)

I have a 1.5" ram, 8" stroke (limited internally to prevent knuckle breakage) with saginaw box and pump. (stock, no mods)

FJ40/2f/cruiser axles/39.5 IROKS/8" wheels

The ram DID slow down the steering at low RPM's (even with 36's) but I can turn the wheel even when I shouldnt...

One thing to remember is once you have it, the amount of force you can put on your steering is much higher than before. If you get "bound up" and you can feel some resistance in the steering wheel, you may not want to force the wheels to turn. Espescially (sp?) with a 2" ram. You could find yourself with a broken knuckle, studs, TRE, trunnion, etc...

Chris:cool:

THanks for the info. looks like I am going to get a saginaw pump, then 1.5" ram. should be enough for my 35 and locker.

And then some. If you were closer, I'd have you come over and wheel my setup. :D
