Carriage bolts in the hardtop? Pics?

They are slick Subzali...currently used on a MUD members fresh build and now on mine. Very happy with this. It holds on the metal bracket from the fiberglass top to windshield frame.

Looking good!!!

Two things, if this is for a client, fix the license plate to the back door as is should be (it will get bent where it is now) and turn the tail lights upside right as they should be ;)

The client is pleased with how it is built now. But I appreciate the comments.

I know your a purist and you've helped me in the past and I really appreciate it. I (we) build these trucks with the intention of having an excellent end product. Attention to detail for fit and function. The carriage bolts for example are not factory. However they hold the metal bracket and look good. Because they are stainless no one will ever have to worry about gooped up rivets, shody patches or anything else. My builder and I have spent over 120 hours on this truck in the last 4 weeks to make sure she is correctly put together and functional. A flipped tail light is my preference and the gentleman that's buying it prefers it this way as well. The lisc plate is also purposely set there and he is happy with this as well. Everyone puts their own spin on builds and I really have no interest in building a totally stock rig. I like making it my own and seeing others appreciate the truck for what it is, a beautifully resurrected old cruiser.

If this is directed at me, I have no problem with what you are saying, and I think that you are doing a really great job putting this good looking rig together...but the plate thing is not a purist thing at all...it is a common sense thing, that plate WILL get bent...like I said, time will tell.

The flipped lights, ya, that is a purist thing :D

Great build...looking forward to reading your next project

No worries friend...I do appreciate the different perspectives and approaches to these builds. Thanks for the comments. Hoz.

Last night Mike painted the inside of the hardtop. It looks awesome!!! Cut in the new rear side marker lights and installed the new rear interior hatch handle. Handled misc items and will be right back there tonight. We are getting close to being able to drive her out of the garage:clap::steer:

Hey Doc I'm leaving it as paint. Headliners are a PITA to put in, I've kinda decided I don't ever want to do that again..haha.

Last night we painted the outside of the hardtop and the infamous bezel (yes it will be installed correctly :p). Mike worked on getting the fenders set correctly and also aligning the hood. As you are all aware this is a chose in itself. Needless to say the front end, hood and fenders are all square and bolted up tight.

I worked on getting the drivers side door window regulator and other small parts installed. :bounce:

Saturday we fabbed in the seats belts using CCOT's seat belt extender. They look great and fit between the seats with minor fabricationg to the lower seat belt plastic only. Bolted up the seats belts and painted and installed the wiper motor and rewired and thats working properly.

Also installed the hardtop and there were no issues getting it seated and bolting up.

Saturday I had to leave for a wedding so Mike installed small parts on the hood and also installed the bezel. Also installed the running boards and misc weather stripping around the front doors windows and other areas.

We installed the rear swing out tire carrier on Sunday and its fitting nice and tight. Also painted and installed the air cleaner. Installed the rear hatch catches and weatherstripped the rest of the rear hatch. Everything closes nice and tight. We installed the tall/skinnies and this truck looks great. All lights are wired up and working properly.

I told Mike I wanted 'factory' looking running boards. He fabbed up some really nice running boards. They look great and are extremely sturdy. Check'em out.

Mike states that he can fab these up for anyone who wants them. I don't have pricing on them yet but if you want a set...painted or non painted I can get anyone a quote plus shipping.

Updating this thread. Last night we worked on a couple small issues. We adjusted the clutch a 1/4 inch (i didn't know they were adjustable...so cool) and spent many hours recovering the rear jump seats. I don't really have good pics of this so just commentary at this point.

We are getting the glass installed today then will finish the jump seats tonight and install of the rear emblems.

Will update with pics tomorrow.

Mike and I finished the last of the build last night. What a journey this has been. I had a wonderful evening drive home in the new to me 40. Many hours, many lessons learned, many friends helping this build to become a beautiful old skool Land Cruiser.

@fjuser : Thanks, I appreciate it.
@sj : I'm holding pics of the interior until tomorrow afternoon. But it is finished.

As promised here are the interior pics. It turned out really nice. This vehicle is sold to a MUD member so this will be my last correspondence on this thread. They can now enjoy it and post pics if they like.

Hoz,
In post 112 there is a photo of the inside of the door. Rookie question but is this an old style door with the hard panels vs the newer doors with the cheap vinyl panels, or is this an inner panel that you can buy? I see the rectangular panels with the X stamped in them from time to time for sale.
