How to torque flywheel/pressure plate without spinning?

What do you guys do to keep the flywheel from moving during clutch jobs?

Try a length of 2x4 from the ground to the flywheel, just right of center so it wedges the flywheel...... I forget how I did it.....

or you can jam a big screwdriver or pry bar in between two of the teeth and then spin the flywheel until it wedges against the bellhousing.

Don't get too drastic! You have a bolt at the front of the crankshaft which holds the harmonic balancer/pulley. 19mm, IFIRC, with a breaker bar.

Oh yeah..... The last clutch I did the engine was sitting on a stand...... Good call Donal

They make a little plastic tool that grabs on to the teeth, I think it might run a whole ten bucks, but a prybar or big screwdriver works fine.

This is what I always do, works great. Just don't forget to take it back off!! (not that I've ever done that... nah... not me...)
