Hey all Im looking to purchase an 80 series and right now am aware that it has a ps steering pump leak and heater core is leaking coolant. I grabbed some pics underneath last night and was curious if you think these knuckles are shot, they look pretty dry (ik they gonna need rebuild just want to gauge how long I can put off) Furthermore does that look like rear main seal leak, side of block is bone dry?

if the price is good, and you're a DIY person, then just buy it and work on it. All kinds of things require your attention from the pics, but most of them do. If they didn't require anything, then those are probably out of your price range! Kinda like the Joe Rogan 80 that was refurbed by someone reputable. See if the owner of this 80 is on the Mud forum and if there is more info on it.
In case you haven't read this FAQ yet, it's worth the read: FAQ - 80-series FAQ for General Info, Modification and Repairs - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/80-series-faq-for-general-info-modification-and-repairs.84888/#post-1012335

Good luck!

ACIS appears to be working as normal. (Automatic Corrosion Inhibiting System) ;)
Nothing there that can't be fixed.
The knuckle is dry, but it also appears to be weeping. Need to confirm it has grease in the knuckle and not full of gear oil.
The rest looks very clean, a touch of surface rust but no cancer.
How handy are you? Can you follow a manual and spin wrenches?
These trucks are really quite simple. And the support group here is AMAZING!
Parts are big, easy to access and while not available at the local parts store, you can get most anything in a week off the interwebs.
That means you have to schedule maintenance.

@montegoblue ,

All depends on the asking price. Nothing on the list that is not normal maintenance items , that are easily remedied with money and time. At some point in ownership any used vehicle those repairs will be required sooner or later.

Normally $5,000 is what gets mentioned as what to set aside for baseline maintenance post purchase. In your situation another $2k for more in parts/labor, higher prices for diesel specific parts plus ongoing tariffs on anything imported.
