Would like to get your opinions on how bad this problem is. Still have not found an FJ55 I am comfortable with.......
FJ55 under 004.webp
FJ55 under 013.webp
FJ55 under 017.webp

How much are you looking to spend. I know of a few that aren't on mud that are great deals. pm me your email address

Thanks tayama - I have written them and waiting for response. But I am in OR so getting something from that far off will be a challenge.

BTW can anyone tell me if this is an original dash from a '76 pig? Did any of them come with the sun roof? This guy also says that the bottom rear was completely cut off and replaced by fiber glass - is this a common practise?

Its a 1976 with 55k miles and a decent interior and weather seals.

Ahhhh, you're in Oregon, that's my neck of the woods. :)

I know of a sweet '72 FJ55 (orange) that is currently for sale in the Central Oregon area. It has a little surface rust, a little rot in the tailgate, but not too bad otherwise. All original, Its currently getting the front end/axles rebuilt. The owner is fixing it up for sale.

Actually, the proceeds of the sale go to benefit the owner who has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has to sell all of his projects to pay bills during the ordeal. His friends have gotten together to help get his projects road-worthy and ready for sale.

The Cruiser community gets together to help its own once again!

I beleive he is asking $4500 OBO. Let me know if you are interested at all.

Oh, the dash is mostly stock, except for the wood and switches and lights, etc. :)

You probably do not want anything to do with a rig that has had fiberglass used to replace rot/metal. That's just my opinion. There are other decent pigs out there. The body/rust/rot can be the most difficult thing to deal with.

i would rather deal with mechanical than severe rust,,,, at least a solid rig with some sheetmetal rust is ok but thats pretty intensive and will require a lot of work.
that dash looks mostly stock, what is he using for a turn signal post?
the sunroof is not stock and i dont understand what you mean about the bottom half being cut off and replaced with glass, except what lucy said, be weary of glass where steel used to be.

Careful not to hit the far right toggle; I think it's the "eject" button. :D

Never heard of fiberglass patches being done by a responsible owner. I smell chicken wire and bondo with a touch of duct tape. If the price is cheap and you plan on beating it up; cool. If you want a "keeper" that you can repair/restore/mod- I'd say there's better candidates than that out there.

Unless you are a body guy.....

Do all those extra switches on the dash work? If the mech. part checks out & it runs good, I'd offer somewhere in the $3K range. There's surely more hidden rust the PO's covering up. Check the other typical areas - rockers, body mounts, rear floorboard & that low hanging rear mud catching area under the tailgate. How about some exterior pics & hows the frame look?
