:) I know it has been covered like 8billion time but I finally tried to fix my horn this weekend on the fj60 '81 and still no go. The wierd thing though is it may not be the contacts but the wiring because sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't mostly on hot days. Any suggestions are welcome and slams too if you are tired of answering the same ? ever day about the horn problem.

I had a similar problem on my 40. The fuse was nudged over a bit and making intermittant contact.

Horn

Fuse block on mine. Weather related intermittent horn. Remove fuse block cover and wiggle fuse while holding down the horn button. Mine was in the tired old fuse clip..... the way it was riveted into the block.

I am not sure if a 81 fj40 is like my 64 fj45LV but my horns just stoped working, I poped the lid off the relay and cleaned the points and it works again :) If I get a chance I will look at my 82 fj40 to see what is its the same.......prolly not

Not.

Toyota got rid of all the cool, easily serviceable stuff before 82. Bastids

BTW those old horn relays are way cool aren't they?
