Hood release cable

My hood release cable broke today at the release lever. What have others done to replace it? I'm kind of surprised it only lasted 53 years. I thought Toyota made better stuff.

Looks like they have some but I'm not sure if LHD and RHD use the same cable.

Thanks for the link. I have never heard of Amayama before. $21 is a lot for shipping, but I would think LHD & RHD would be the same.

They are reputable. It's coming from either the middle east or Japan depending on which warehouse has it, so $21 isn't much. You'll also get it fast. I can order the same part from them and someone else stateside and 100% of the time they deliver first.

I have used Amayama before without issue but sometimes they show something available that isn't. If that happens you can always send it to a company that specializes in repairing cables. Eg: California Push-Pull Inc. Cable Specialists Based in Chico, Ca. - https://push-pull.com/

I have a spare as it turns out. It would be very easy to have one remade. Thanks for the link to push-pull, they could be a source for dash controls that use cables.
