Best option? Thoughts?

That upper pad thing that attaches to the inside surface of the hood is really nice, but guess what, hood insulator pads do not come on the basic versions of some brand new land cruisers sold in other countries.
Apparently Toyota doesn’t think they’re necessary.
(But I like them)

Buy from Toyota. Partsouq shows it for $116.00 but shipping to me was 251.00 more yikes! This is one that might be best to order from a local dealership to avoid it getting damaged in shipping and to avoid shipping costs. Did this about 5 years ago. I don't recall any push snaps coming with it. EDIT: order the clips from toyota:

One thing I will tell you is to make sure that after you install it, make sure nothing's going to tear it up. Make sure the hose clamps on the air cleaner (if you still have them) are turned to the side and not sticking up.

I Just ordered one from the dealer.....OUch....But if you consider the shipping cost for something large like that, it makes sense. Still costly for what it is.....

edit: order the clips online.....the dealer wanted $4.19 per clip!

You need to remember that you are dealing with an item that is almost as large as a hood and can not be made smaller without destroying it. Bulky items are shipped by dimensional weight. It costs as much to ship the insulator as it does for the hood.

Buy one from your local dealer and go pick it up. No freight involved and if it's damaged you can walk away from it.

I get that. But ive been doing alotta other item pricing/shoppin for a laundry list of things and pretty miuch across the board S&H is absurd.

Yeah. You can't ship a candy bar for less than 8 bucks.

@WSOPgold2012 Sounds like you got a deal!!! I hope it wasn't a site like T parts deal, where you can pay like its in stock and then in a week later they cancel the order. I spent $310 to pick it up at my local dealer. If its damaged at all they will have to get another one in. Still alot for an insulator, but mine is original 1984 and falling apart.

Whats "T Parts Deal"??

I have parts in 4 or 5 carts waiting for me to go over my list 1 more time mkn sure im not missing anything. 1 of the carts has a $550 S&H ...thats absurd.

Good grief.... Toyota Parts deal.com I have bought alot from them, but since covid started they don't want to order anything....so they will just cancel the parts they cannot get state side i guess? Every other order I make gets cancelled basically. Parts shopping is the only shopping I do according to my wife! Ha....

Agreed. toyotapartsdeal took my order and 8 days later it's still in "processing". Had to call them 2x to see what they were doing. Then get some generic email saying "its either NLA or out of stock". I really wish they wouldn't take my order and leave me in limbo if this is the case. Ended up ordering from SOR and getting the item another week later.
