Sorry Ferg, I didn't catch your meaning. Are you saying that there's someone in that order list earlier in the thread that has a Red LC that'll have one of those vinyl covers soon?

I just got back on mud (been busy since SnT).

I have to say, I want one. :bounce: Full sized. Keep it less than $80 (one tank of gas) and I'm there.

Let me know.

Got mine and laid it out on my hood. Isotel, I think you nailed it on the size!--exactly what I was looking for! I hope to be installing it this weekend.

After reading the instructions, I got scared and took mine to get put on by a pro. Cost me $30 from a guy running a small window tint shop. Took around 1/2 an hour. Prices around town here were running $45 - $70 per hour with some of them doing an hour minimum charge. Guy did a decent job though he did put a small crumple in it when he was peeling it off the backing sheet. After watching him do the application, I'm confident I could do it myself now quite easily.

Here's a crappy cell phone pic for now...

Freg, Looks good, yea get some good photos ASAP dude!

The pics don't do it much justice I think. The size of it is perfect for what I was wanting. The installer cut a small arc at the corners that are at the rear of the hood as he thought it would hold up to peeling etc better than a point. Cutting the holes for the spray nozzles was relatively easy as you could see exactly where the holes were underneath the vinyl.

The installer was actually more negative about the vinyl than I was expecting... He said its gonna look totally sweet for a few days or a week or month but its gonna end up getting a ton of scratches and looking pretty bad.

So Isotel, what's the recommended "care" for this stuff? I'm gonna want to buff and wax the paint around the edges of it (you can see in the pics, the paint right in front of the black-out needs some help) as I want to keep this rig looking pretty decent. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

NICE!!! Can't wait to do mine!

Where did you get the "LAND CRUISER" lettering?

You know I wouldn't want to be the first to do it either. But I truly believe when you're working on a job for your own vehicle you tend to do a better job than if it's just another customer at work.

Which is why I work slower than a grandmother making a quilt on everything for my truck!!!

Looks great!!!

EDIT: Wow that's actually a great POV from the drivers position. You really don't need anything longer than that!!! Oh well mine will just be a greasy hand print cover for opening the hood!

After watching him do the application, I'm confident I could do it myself now quite easily.

Any tips you can share? Mine should be coming soon and without reading the instructions I'm scared.

:)

Have some one help you. Peel off one side at a time like the instructions say, but don't totally squeegee it until you peel both sides off, that way you can maneuver it around to place it exactly where you want it as a whole (kind of hard to do in halfs). Use the soft squeegee and lots of the soapy water (aka application fluid). The instructions spell it out quite well actually--just sounds a wee bit more intimidating (especially when you think about how much the black-out cost us). Dunno much more than that, really, the instructions are where its at, but it was nice to see it done in person once.

I Sent out the Rest of the Graphics today, I had to find some better packaging due to one of the first ones being crushed in the mail!, but all is good now!

Let me know if i can update the application instructions to help out a bit! One thing i have done is use the Clear backing material on the top to ensure that the vinyl dose not get scratched. There are many ways to do apply them, If you mess one up applying it i can make another one at a discout..

As far as care, i would try not to get any polish or wax on it, and use mild soap and water to keep it looking good.. only time will tell how long they will last and keep looking good, this site has some more good tips Custom Graphics Installation Instructions

And Freg is right, They look way Slicker in person than the photos can show!, Thanks for the photos!
