Ended up buying a 270 amp alternator from DC Power Inc and a wiring kit from user @Fourrunner. Got the alternator in the mail couple weeks back and the cables yesterday. My winch, by the spec sheet, says it'll pull around 250 amps for an 8000lb pull. 360 amps for a full 12k pull. Stay tuned for install and winching performance.

I got an Alt from them too ... this one it's bold on for 1FZ motor ?

It's supposed to be. The only indication I have is from 1 other post on here somewhere where the person said they had to do some slight grinding on the bracket. But I won't know for sure until I try to get it installed. Hopefully within the week.

So you can almost run your winch without a battery?

Yeah, most pulls up to 8k or so, the alternator should be able to handle. Of course there are other vehicle accessories that still need power, but the overall battery load should be very minimal.

Yeah, works great! I posted up the install process and some testing in this thread.

270amp Alternator Install

After testing out the winch in the mountains, I kept tabs on my battery and it was consistently testing under 12.6v in the following weeks. I ended up replacing it with an Exide AGM off Amazon for $167.
