HJ60, 24v system, battery gauge starts at 16V and jumps to 26v after starting engine (1 Viewer)

Just that, two brand-new batteries. When I turn the key to the first stop the gauge registers at about 18-20 V and battery light is illuminated and then when I go to start, the gauge shoots up past 24 and stays at 26 V. I have to be honest I didn't notice it before. Help?

Its most likely that your glowplugs are coming on and causing a voltage drop. When the engine starts, the alternator starts making current and your gauge goes up.
There is a Diesel and 24volt forum on MUD for that.
