Hi All-
I have a new to me 1999 LX470 with 230K miles and the stock alternator is crapping out on me. The previous owner added a fairly big amp, upgraded to custom (and higher powered) headlights, and I'm planning to run an extra battery charger off the alternator. All of this means my little 80-AMP OEM alternator probably ain't gonna cut it. I'm looking at Tuscon Alternators (TAE) Pure Power and Mechman's 240AMP direct fit HO options. Curious if there are any strong preference for either of these. Specs seem quite similar, warranty is similar, and they're just a few bucks apart in costs.
Obviously need to do the big 3 upgrade as well, but that's relatively straight forward. I suspect some folks will have preference for DC alternators, but those guys are $$$$.
