ASIR advised me their hidden winch plate is only designed up to 10,000 lbs winch. I went with Trail Taylor since I have a VR12.

Didn't ever publish final product. Trail-Tailor hidden winch with VR12. Bought extended cables online to remote locate control pack near the battery on homemade bracket. Followed directions from prior post. Thanks for the guidance!

@SlowCB7 did you finish the harbor freight special? I want to see some pics, thinking about giving it a go myself.

I ordered Smittybilt X20 and the HF channel.
Hopefully they arrive next week.

My brother is a pretty smart mechanical engineer and can weld....I'll be making a detailed write-up of the process.

I finished the HF mount today.
I'll have a new thread with photos soon.

I did it very similar to this, but the rear tabs on the end are different and I believe will be more robust.

To those who have installed the ASFIR plate, how is it working now that it's been in place for a little while? Would you recommend order this or wait for Trail Tailor to make another batch? Install is on a 2003 LX470. Winch is a Warn VR12.
This seems like the best place to post this. My Asfir Winch mount had a minor impact from the front (under 5 mph) and it’s bent up and back now. I’m pretty disappointed and will likely replace with a full Dissent/ARB/TJM bumper if I manage any $$ from the unlicensed, uninsured, unregistered offender.

@Ayune
Here are photos for my HF universal plate install. I also took a front impact....my buddy backed into me in his 3/4 Chevy Duramax hauling a 20 ft trailer and a huge skid steer while cleaning up from Hurricane Laura. The mount was fine except the front lip that the fairlead attaches to. I got a large crescent wrench and was able to bend it back.

Yea, I saw the thread, very cool. I guess I just got unlucky with my impact.

Or maybe I got lucky... I ordered a TJM bumper, it should arrive any decade now.

You're fairlead seems to sit higher...before impact than does mine. Interesting, I thought I was pretty high up on the mount

Digging that early 60's model ford truck in the pic.

I’ve been interested in installing a hidden winch. I wonder if with Big Slacks system, not having the bumper wings will make that part of the bumper flap around moreso then on TT system where they are retained.

I'm wondering the same. Both of them seem like they need some boxing--they are very wide and flat which seems easy to bend. The HF winch plate seems like it would be much more rigid, but I'm not into DIY so much these days.
