I have decided to sell my 1967 FJ40. My family has out grown it and it is time to move to an 80 series with 3rd row seating. I am a little reluctant because I have spent the last three years completing a frame off restoration on this rig and I have owned it since I was fifteen. This thing is very nice.
The good
-POWERTRAIN
-Fresh Chevrolet 350, Tuned Port fuel injection bored .30 over (less than 500 miles on complete rebuild)
-Auto meter gages (2yrs old)
-New Jegs electronically controlled distributer
-New Howell Engineering complete engine management system and wiring harness.
-New fuel pump in custom made surge tank.
-New water pump
-Serpentine belt system from 1990 Pontiac Firebird donor car
-Rams horn manifolds
-Mid eighties GM Turbo350 automatic transmission (rebuilt by local trans shop less 1000 miles) mated to stock 3spd t-case via Advanced Adapter kit
-3speed t-case was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago
-Vacuum shift was removed and shift linkages from 77 4spd case were installed.
-Rear Axle has less than 1000 miles on rebuild. Due to lack of funds the stock carrier with 10 spline pinion and stock 4:10s was welded per Woody’s instructions in the Wiki. The rear axle also has new Poly Performance Chromalloy 30 spline shafts
-The Front Axle housing is a cut and turned (for SOA) unit from Profits’ Cruisers. It has all new wheel bearings and rebuilt Asco (Asian) hubs. The knuckles were rebuilt and replaced with mini truck large pattern knuckles and new Toyota studs. Longfield lifetime wiper seals, Trail Gear rock ring knuckle felt protectors. The 3rd member is a stock 77 4:10 fine spline pinion with an open diff. The shafts are stock Toyota with rebuilt birfields. Included will be a new Lock-rite for the front. I installed this locker in the rear for one wheeling trip but removed it to put it in the front when I could afford a set of longfield front shafts.
