I know this has been covered somewhere here before, but after hours of searching "Securikey", "Audiovox", and many others, I am stuck (and stranded).

I disconnected the battery on my 97 80 and upon reconnecting it, the alarm activated (horn, lights, and will not crank). I have never had the wireless fob (nor had the alarm activate). I have the Securikey+ manual, which does not say how to disable without the fob.

My particular "Securikey+" system has the LED button (Valet Switch) on the blank switch plate to the left of the locker switch and does not have the "Toyota Security" LED on the center dash. It is a MS origin vehicle.

I went through this with my 96 80 once and found the solution here, but it was a different version than my 97.

Can someone help me with how to reset this one so I can get home? Or...how to remove it? Stranded is no fun!

Disconnect the battery 10 minutes and reconnect, try again?

It looks like you are offline now, but the way to use that switch is this: Hold the button while turning the ignition key on, it should give you some kind of confirmation that the alarm is disabled. You may have to turn the ignition on & off a few time, but that should work.

You can also find the "brain" for the alarm and either disconnect the main connector, or cut the ground wire. If it has a normally closed relay, the engine should then start. If not, then you will have to find the large wires that are used to interrupt the start signal near the ignition switch, cut them, and reconnect the factory wires together.

Solved!

Thanks to Toyota Dan - holding the button in and turning the key did not work, neither did numerous other combinations of button pushing, key turning, battery connecting, etc. However, I was able to locate and disconnect the Securikey+ unit.

The particular version of Securikey in my '97, which I believe was installed by Gulf States Toyota, was located under the dash (not under the seat as the one in a previous 80).

It is a black plastic box appx 3"x3.5"x.5" and was cable tied to the cruise control unit. This is smaller than the cruise control and looks to be part of it at first glance.

I found it when I noticed a 1"x1.5..5" black plastic box with one red LED and a sticker that says "Shock Sensor". I followed the wire from the Shock Sensor to the unit.

The fix was a simple as disconnecting the wire loom from the unit. Instantly I was free from the beast can report no repercussions from this.

I am going to attach pictures of the Securikey+ button on the dash and the disconnected wire loom in the even they may be helpful to anyone else.

For the next guy who has this issue- put the key in, turn on the ignition, connect battery.

I still have the alarm on my truck, never used it, every time I disconnect the battery I am reminded it's there.

I unplugged the brain just now to disable. Starts fine but the lock switches don't work. Only the driver side door will unlock/lock from inside. PS no go along with rear doors. Plugged brain back in and doors work fine. Any ideas on what my next step is?
