truck starts like it's carburated and cold!

:censor:I have an 87 4runner with a 22re. The header is cracked where the 4 pipes meet at the coupling. Also the valves need adjusting. That aside, when I start it I have to treat it as though it were carburated, it's like I have to act as the choke. It will sputter yadda yadda for about 20 seconds give or take. I opended the the air filter and held the flap door open with the ignition on and the fuel system primes. I am not sure what is going. I am hoping that the valves are not crystalized. Oh please GOD!!!!!! I am getting ready to take it apart now, and would appreciate any advice. I also could use some tips on adjusting the valves. It seems as though I need to be some kind ancient japanese ninja to get the feel, damn them all to HELL! Any and all advice would be great. Especially the secret of understanding women, universal secrets and the ticket to free ice cream. Long live toyota, and may the others perish under there tiny but furious feet!!! BONZAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check the connection to the cold start injector, and if necessary the cold start injector itself. It's on the plenum, in the middle, drivers side. It will have a wire connector going to it and a small metal fuel line.
