I think Uncle Ben misunderstood. The point of using the Hybrid housing is so that you can keep the Cruiser Center section, but use mini truck shafts which are superior. I do not see why you could not keep your Cable Locking center. Do the Mini truck e-locker rear shafts have the long splined portion? If not you are looking at a custom axle shaft. Should not be hard to find someone to make that shaft though.

I do not believe that it is necessary to use a full floater with the cable lockers am I correct?

You could sell the full floater housing and shafts, pick up a pick up rear end and cruiser housing and keep your center section pretty cheap.

Is there any real reason to get rid of your front axle?

So you think cutting up my current rear axle housing and centering the diff is the way to go? OUCH! I am scared. Is cutting up a full float cable locker housing worse than putting a mini truck ring and pinion in my cruiser? I wouldn't need the full float I was just curious if it would work with my current axle. If I go that route I will just keep the cable lockers.

just another thought??? What about putting a Ford nine inch in the rear???

keep the ideas coming!

Only the Nodular case 9 is comparable to the Cruiser carrier in strength! 9's are weak by design in the pinion webbing (or lack of). What you have already sounds like a good setup! If you are sprung over you have to run a rear anti wrap bar no matter what diff you go with! It is axle wrap that breaks Cruiser (fine spline) pinions! If you are determined to eliminate the rear c-clips then focus on just that! Cable lockers are awesome as long as you keep the cables lubed and kink free.

This seems pretty clear....how did I misunderstand?

"I was thinking about putting in a FJ80 front in with an e-locker and selling the axles complete as a pair."

Yea if it where me, id Sell your current axles as a setup.. THey are worth alot the way they are!..

Start fresh with an FJ60 front, build that up to how you want it..

in the rear, id do the hybrid! Ive got a housing in my back yard you can cut up, and we can find the rest of the parts at the local junk yard.

9" would be cool, but require a custom Housing/ Shafts.

Trevor,

I agree. selling those axles as a pair, they are worth more. For some reason I feel better about selling those axles then cutting up the rear. I am not much of a purist, but I'd feel better selling them to someone who is or just really wants them. Plus it will put some cash in the bank to give me options.

Anyone got some Dana 60's??? Just kidding. That might be a little over kill. I don't think I want that much width anyways.

Trevor,

What housing do you have. I am going to pick up some fj60 axles today.

Tony.
