The cadet blue is actually quite a bit lighter than the horizon/horizontal blue I had mixed. I have been looking for the code I had mixed. I'll have to find it but I'll let you know when I do.

Cadet Blue T449 (the two freshly painted vehicles below are the only ones I know of in this color) :

Horizon Blue T1208 or PPG 99157 (on a 1978, which is not the correct factory year for the paint - but of course looks FANTASTIC !!) :

Horizontal Blue T808 (Not sure of the year of this vehicle, I'm thinking a 1969 or 70):

Gleam Blue T829 or PPG 1749 or 14302 (this is a 1971 Corolla. The color was not used on 40-series, but was used by Toyota from 1971-73) :

Interestingly, although the '71 Corolla (above) is a Toyota marketing pic from back in the day - my own father purchased in 1971 a brand new Corolla, precisely like this one above, and drove it for 12 years, until 1983. He then donated it to my high school's automotive department, that the high school students could learn on it.

Thanks @baldboy! That Cadet Blue in T449 that @Skydog posted is pretty close. Man, they're both gorgeous.

So, I've gone to 3 automotive paint shops looking for Cadet Blue (T449) and it's unobtainable. The code pulls up lacquer only and everyone says that no one makes it any more and there's not a comparable color that they can scan from. One called PPG color library and they offered a Chrysler gray as a substitute but it wasn't close.

The last shop told me to dig through a Pantone book and find a swatch that is as close to the color as possible.

The second choice in the original post looks like maybe T303 or Nebula.

Below:
Top Picture = T622 Nebula Green.
Middle picture = T303 Fashion Green
Bottom picture = 621 Rustic Green
I'd be interested in seeing a confirmed picture of Judson green.

Hey @baldboy were you ever able to find that code? I had something mixed up but it's not right. Too much of a periwinkle color.
Sorry for the delay there buddy. I haven't been on mud in a while. I'm starting to think someone :princess: might have thrown out my paint can because I CANNOT find it.

I know I tried the 1208 and it was sort of close but very baby/powder blue.

If I remember correctly what I had to do was spend some time cross-referencing the different color code charts which showed alternative codes for certain colors from different manufacturers. I spent at least a year searching and bought probably 8 colors before landing on mine.

Man I'm really sorry for two reasons-1. I can't help you out with the color code specifically. 2. Now I won't be able to buy another can for myself if I need it!

I went to the Oreilly where I bought it and they found no record of the mix or the purchase.

Good luck on yoursearch... I know a lot of people have taken that journey (myself included).

In all honesty you might land on a color you like as much or more just by looking through the books with the swatches on them.

Good advise from the last shop. Find the color closest to what you want. Your rig will look great when done.

Just stumbled across this thread. I saw the original 78 Cadet Blue 40 photographed in this thread in person.

Super cool color, can't confirm it was original but bad a$$ none the less. It eventually sold, where I dont know...
