How much time would you guess for rebuilding the sunroof? (Not including the headliner in/out)

Did you also get new plastic corners and hoses and clamps?
30 min. 1 🍌 job.
My plastic corners were fine.
the front hoses and clamps where perfect.
the rear hoses were replaced with 5/8 heater hose. I trimmed the hole to make it bigger to fit the larger hose.

Would love pics of the roof to side corner from front to back. Have some dents in that area that I would like to push out.

Post #84 and #97 are the best pics to show this. Unfortunately there is a sub frame that runs the whole length, making pushing dents out inaccessible. If they are above that on the roof then the roof is totally accessible to push out dents.

Also for those that are skeptical about dropping the headliner and servicing the sunroof, don’t be. I’ve done it twice now, and I can now drop the headliner in under an hour with two diff size screwdrivers and a panel clip tool. The sunroof I can remove in 20 min. You just need a helper. Entire project is 1 🍌.

Also, we got 5 inches of rain yesterday and the sunroof did not leak AT ALL in that torrenchial rain. Even if it did let a few drops in, with clear drain tubes it will easily evacuate the tub and keep the inside of the cab dry. I’m not worried at all now.

Ok, I’ve determined I need new glass. I can’t find a “CDan” here. Do y’all know of a good source?
How did you determine you need new glass?

The OEM glass for the North American 80s is NLA. You can replace it with 63201-60024, but you'll have to buy it from an overseas vendor; US dealers don't sell it and it's not stocked in the US warehouses.

I'd recommend you email Dave Stedman. Dave has been supplying hard to find parts for years.

It seems that too much water gets past the glass seal. With high volume rains the tray fills up and it dumps down the A Pillar into the floorboard . Looks like the po had a visor on the sunroof and where the clips were there are indentations in the dry crusty seal. I can watch water flush in there. I’ve run wire down the drains and it handles water I pour in there fine and drains out the rocker. Figured I’d pull the headliner, check/service the lines, and install the new glass /seal.

See post #42 of this thread. There I compared my original sunroof gasket with the new one I ordered for the same reason as you.

The new one still leaked when I tested it. Because of this I wager that all 80 sunroofs leak. But the drains do their job and drain the pan. That is the key. The drains. After all my work in rehabbing the drains I could dump a pitcher of water in the pan and it would drain no problem. I’m now confident that my sunroof will leak, but not a drop will get into the cab 👍🏼
…and parking on level ground whenever possible.

So save your money (unless your gasket is trashed) because new sunroof is $$$$. And it will still leak.

Maybe think about the bicycle tire tube mod for a better seal.

Thanks for the response and I hear ya. I will go ahead with servicing the drain lines prior to the glass replacement and see how it goes.

It was my impression that the glass was never intended to be water tight but that it would limit the volume and rate of entry to such a degree that the drain could handle it. I can pour a pitcher directly into the drain pan in a controlled manner and it drains fine. But if close glass and set a hose on top the rig it will overwhelm the drain and pour down the Apillar like the hose itself was inside the rig.
