My recommendation:
1. Sell 61030 head.
2. Buy a core 61040 head, have it rebuilt.
3. Get all the gaskets & fasteners ordered
4. take a weekend and swap heads.
5. sell your old head to the next 'mudder.
:steer:

Dissy is almost done. Sorry bout the delay.:o

[cancel the following: MY HEAD IS THE 61040, not my bad memory of 63010. ok, how does the 61040 and my current 63010 head compare in regards to these things?]

What years/engines does the 61030 fit so I can advertise it properly?

ok on the dizzy, just status checking

What is 63010? Got a pic?

The 61030 is 1/75-7/76 USA 2F. AFAIK, it will also work fine on 77-80 2F, w/ the possible addition of a pipe plug to fill an extra coolant temp sender hole in the top.

61040 is 81-87 USA 2F.

[ I AM BLIND: my rig has a 61040 on it just as you said. Your experience beats my zeal and my bad eyes]

thanks for the info on the 81-87, this all helps.

Now I ponder what the wreck yard was thinking when it sent the 61030 to me when I specified the rig as a 1986 FJ60 - must have been ignorant, as I was. Or a replacement engine that trashed rig

grant indicated shaving .080 off of the 61030 and it would "work" (what ever that means). Do you reject that thought? I could use that until my head gets built. I don't think I am going to get much back of what I put into this head

thanks
