Just be careful of the dreaded while your in there the paranoia can be time consuming and rough in the wallet. But I went down that rabbit hole when doing my head gasket. I looked up one day and it was 4 months later and still not back together lol. It is now and 45,000 miles later still running great
Yeah, good point. I have done it both ways (engine in-vehicle and engine and tranny pulled) and suggest keeping it simple. Do the PHH, vacuum lines, fuel filter but stuff like the front main seal, oil pump seal, can be done at another time. One exception to keep it simple mantra might be the oil cooler check, clean and seal: it's an easy job with the exhaust manifold off.

Do your fuel filter and all the vac hoses under the manifold while your in there. Wish I would of. Also PHH if you haven't or its getting old would be easier with the space created as well

And take lots of pictures for reference as you go

I scored mine from Ebay for roughly the same. It's nice having it laid out next to me, and if a bit of grease gets on it no big deal.
Yea, it kinda sucks to get grease all over your laptop keyboard. And having to re-sign in because you took too long between steps. But the FSM was instrumental in doing mine successfully! I've since scored a hard copy for $65 through this forum. Good luck and trust in @beno!

It's totally a learn as you go process. Not a big deal just an education as you go kind of thing just like your first brake job stretched out over a couple months!:D. It is a great time to baseline all cooling system items and switch to green stuff. And as said before, do the phh, fuel filter, and new vac lines cause it's easy. I believe Mr. T set the fzj up for a hg redo to make us all feel self sufficient anyway. Have fun!

Depending on the age of your injectors, you might consider sending them to RC Engineering and getting them rebuilt.

I also have an email out to Beno to start ordering parts. .

I emailed you back asking to discuss the scope of your project over the telephone so I can guide you correctly.

I prefer to discuss things of this nature as there are nice shortcuts, other places to buy decent parts vs. Toyota and a host of other topics.

Does anyone have the idahodan DVD. I hit him up but no response and he seems to be gone. I'd be happy to pay for someones copy or to borrow it.

thanks
