at the lower rpms or with little load the 2 engines will perform much the same, i like a mapped turbo on a non-turbo engine. i buy the unit cheaper, i can put what ever turbo i like on and the on road performace is improved but the around town or bush trails the engine performs exactly like it came from the factory. simular to the PI, untill the boost is up to activation point the engine is completely drivable.
i can see also Greg's point, if the area is remote then a turbo just adds to the chance of something going wrong and i can see Daryls point with the increase of cost with the tubo...
cheers

ya depends on purpose. For general use in Canukian highways a turbo engine is the way to go. But if your working in a mine or at low rpms the turbo would not be needed.

I can see use in Africa or such, driving flats and hard use, better with out a turbo, as greg says something could break.....

My NA mercedes does ok with out a turbo. I just drove 400kms thru the mountains and was able to maintain 65 mph almost all the time. Its just my under powered BJ that needs a helping hand...

with Half million Km in my 2H I can say .. I miss the turbo sometimes. with a lots of gearing and good shape maintenance for my engine, sometimes when I like to pass on the wighway, it't slow .. very slow ..

But my non torbo rig go a lot's of places no matter how much dificult are with other turbo and V8 gas powered rigs ..

Maybe the issue is .. you don't " need " turbo setup to goo weeling .. but anycase is good stuff.
