I like the idea of the drain holes what about a very slight pitch so no water can sit in there?
If you put one in each corner it doesn't matter how the truck sits you will have a drain at the low point.

It is heavy but I don't think that it weighs that much. I can still pick it up by hand.

Exactly tawright I am sure it doesn't weigh that much and thus would not really change your CG much at all. I'm guessing its 60-80 lbs. I want one of my own.
Good work! I need to do one for myself. IPOR sells a nice one though. I might just pick up one of theirs.
I was mostly exaggerating the CG drop to highlight the beef of said skidplate... once you pick up some mud and rocks maybe a 1 3/4" (44mm) drop.

My71FJ40 let's build one for you. Pacific steel had a bunch of scrap 3/16 or 1/4 plate last time I was there.
I probably have enough material to make my own...just not the time right now.
