That's the most useless wiki-damn-pedia entry I've ever seen...it just names off every possibly way you could eat a potato in the morning...pure fully concentrated uselessness!

Hash-browns = shredded potatos which are never seasoned enough and sure as hell not crispy enough either. If ordered at the Awful House they might have dripping wet onions mixed in, or some sort of yellow goo, referred to as cheese..in either case they will be wet, squishy, devoid of any potato flavor and will likely give you the runs later in the day.

Diced potatos (I've always just called them what they are) = diced potatos boiled, then fried with enough oil, salt, pepper, garlic salt, etc...to make basically small french fries...you have to cook them slow and for a long time...I make awesome ones of these.

Home fries = some stupid-ass name a restaurant came up with when trying to appeal to a backwoods crowd...it was probably Johny's first day to the big city, he went to a diner for breakfast, the cook was too lazy to peel the potatos and instead just labeled them "home fries", ironic since they were not in a home and they were not fries...just sloppily hacked apart potatos thrown in a pan then let cook until about burned on the bottom, but still raw on the top...ala Home Fries.

Gooood gooood. I can feel the hate welling up in you. Your anger will make you strong. Complete your journey to the dark side.

mabrodis, don't be hatin on hash browns just cause you and your local waffle house can't cook 'em right. Diced taters are good, but don't measure up to the browns.

man fellows that was some good eating ... i will belch all day long

sounds wonderful.:D

you do realize you were supposed to take pics and really rub it in.:whoops:

I have already declared we are having breakfast for dinner tonight and hash browns are definately on the menu.

I'm glad I could influence some people's meal choices. What y'all don't know is I'm heavily invested in potatoes and this is all a big marketing campaign. Bwahahaha!

Diced is the BEST way to make browns.

Diced potatoes are not hash browns. They are good for dinner, just like regular sliced fried potatoes.

He's a Texan. Give him a break.(NOT)

They can't help it if they ain't southern.

They want to be but somehow just can't fxxxin grasp the concept.

If your mind is closed aint nuthin I can do about that. IMHO there are a zillion ways to do hasbrowns.

They browns you refer to are shredded no?

I spent 5 loooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggg years in your fine state.

So I guess you did..........................

Perhaps it was some other crazy branch davidian.

I am assuming by [ EDIT ] state you mean Texas. oops

Where in Texas did you experience such horrible conditions?

Do you not find that the outside of the shredded potato group gets over done while the inside is white and undercooked?

No, I break them up enough so that I get a good brown crisp most everywhere. The inside won't be crispy but I use enough oil so that it's not undercooked.

I understand what you are saying though. The same thing can happen when you are frying sliced potatoes if you aren't careful.
