My dash pad had some Naugahyde covering on it. I tore it off. What's underneath is pretty bad. So, I'm after a dash pad. @65swb45 do you have any? Feel free to PM me.
I installed the front axle and hooked up the front driveshaft. Connected up more brake lines. I need to do the two front hoses then the brake plumbing is really done.
I also have a boatload of fluids to do. Engine oil, transfer case oil, tranny oil, both axles, brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, & coolant.
Just got my new dash pad then sanded and painted the metal insert/clip to keep it from rusting. This is a fj40dash.com dash pad. I really like the quality, flexibility and it seems like it would withstand the elements much better than OEM. By flexibility I mean it is more forgiving than OEM when someone puts their weight on it when getting out of the back seat. The fit and construction seem amazing. The price is great too.
There are just two things that don't bother me one bit but it may bother some. First, it's not OEM. Second, the finish is not completely uniform which is hardly noticeable. I am extremely pleased with it so far and would recommend to anyone looking for a dash replacement!
A few months ago, I was trying to get the bib re-attached. It was kind of a fight to get it all to come together. My buddy looked at it and suggested I loosen the bolts that hold the fender supports to the frame. So I removed them all, and put in new bolts. One original bolt was already snapped off. I was not able to extract the leftover piece. So I have one bad one.
Here's the driver side with fender removed when I was fighting with that snapped off bolt.
Trying to put my fenders and bib back together. Ideally, should these two lines align? I looked at earlier photos of my truck, before I disassembled the front, and they weren't aligned when I bought it. Are they supposed to align?
