Hard Start: Fuel Pressure Loss at Engine Shutdown

I sounds like you are close to solving this. The only other thing I discovered on some searches is that the FP resistor can sometimes be out of spec and cause erratic starting issues, not sure if you've measure that. Keep us posted!

The OEM FPR is discontinued, so it's hard to say if the aftermarket one is doing its job correctly.
@DesertCruiser80 ...regarding the Standard Motor Products PR88 aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator, any comments you can make on the quality of this part based on your experience so far? I think mine is toast and I wish they still made the OEM FPR, so now for the FPR replacement it appears to be a choice of the lesser of evils (which aftermarket FPR to use and which to stay away from).

I couldn't tell with 100% confidence if it is working properly. I never quite solved my hard starts. Engine still stumbles sometimes, sometimes it takes 2 separate cranks to start, almost like the first is priming, then the 2nd to actually start. It could very well be I got a faulty FPR since I still lose pressure fast on shutdown, but I think I remember performing a test which exonerated it. Something to do with pinching a fuel line.

Anyway, if you KNOW yours is bad, even an inferior aftermarket FPR is better than a broken one.
